Differences between V and IV?

I've been a long time civilization 4 player, and I recently bought civ5 on steam. Are the basic rules much different than IV? Is early rushing still an option? Is there still a high level of micromanagement and diplomacy?

There are quite a few differences, and probably too many to post here.

There are so many differences civ 5 can barely be considered a prequel. My opinion

IMO:

CIV5 pros:
Graphics
hexes
ranged units
policies
city states
leader/civ traits
mods (1 mod only system sucked in civ4)
Everything feels.... organic (I dont know if anybody gets the joke )

CIV4 pros:
diplomacy
leader personalities
vassals
cities besides the capital beeing able to become beasts (makes fighting for good cities interesting instead of just capturing them to win the game)
culture victory (hate culture victory since tourism in civ5)
