Stonehenge is a bit of a contradiction relating to it's quote. "Time crumbles things; everything grows old and is forgotten under the power of time" –Aristotle. Besides that is the unique music, very ominous and foreboding when most wonders are positive and the few negative wonder songs (e.g. Kremlin, Prora, Terracotta) are just a bit somber. The game is about standing the test of time and the Stonehenge itself is an ancient structure having fairly well stood the test of time. Yet a quote about growing old and forgotten was chosen, along with the music makes for a very antiCiv theme. Very perplexing. Or maybe it's suppose to be motivational along the lines of proving Aristotle wrong, beating the odds. (which Stonehenge itself is evidence).

It may be a reference to the fact that we've forgotten the history of stonehenge. We have theories like that is was a druidic astronomy site, but no one knows for sure who built it or why.

Also, I would not say it is "standing" as it was. There are clearly toppled stones and it is a more a ruin then a complete site now.

Not to sound flippant, but it really has crumbled under the pressure of time. The only thing left are a few stones (massive stones albeit) piled on top of each other in a circle. That's like discovering the foundation of a house and claiming the house is still standing. The entire complex was much bigger than what is left of Stonehenge.
