Got an epic immortal Pangaea start as Spain, but super bummed that I didn't finish SV before t250. Might be lack of suitable RAs, but still, was there any way I could have finished this faster? Better beliefs for my religion, GS timing, city spots, etc? I've posted the save - if anyone wants to give some advice and play an ungodly start at the same time, that would be great. I took peoples' previous advice and grew cities ASAP, but was still 15-ish turns short. How could I have gotten an SV on this map before t250?

Try to jump around 1300 bpt with 5 cities. Or try to get 3 observatories with 4 cities. Plastics tech before turn 200 should do the trick.

I hit plastics t191, so thought I was gonna get it, but nope? Also, there was no space for a 5th good city, and I was having happiness problems (never was actually below 0, but during the game it was usually 5-10).

When going for a very quick SV, what do you guys do with GA's and GW's? Make great works or bulb them for culture and golden ages?

I generally save them and then bulb them for when I need the golden ages/culture. Remember to get the most out of you GW, do it at T8 or later of a golden age (as is counts the last 8 turns of culture).

Isn't T250 on epic equivalent to T200 on standard? That's scarily fast....I would've settled Madrid one tile southeast on the river. also I think maybe your cities are a bit too close together to get the most worked tiles.

By 'epic' he means really good. I'm going in. Science in 250 or bust.

Derp. I just got what he meant...yeah 4-5 salt in capital is indeed epic. Is the turn time 20% longer for epic compared to standard?

haha being so busy nowadays I've finally returned to the forums...
Haven't played Civ5 in a while (and mostly CV when I did) this map looks perfect for getting me back in the groove.

For the record I've never had SV below 260 prior to this but with this start I'll give it a try (don't be surprised if my empire looks culture-heavy as I simply CANNOT live without my wonders) :)

I have not opened your save but what policies did you go for? I think your capital should have been at least 5-10 citizens higher than the rest of the cities. 1 food caravan from each satellite and hopefully at least 1 maritime CS ally. Freedom seems a nice option here. Did you buy all research labs in 1 turn? As for the RA they are rather weak and maybe worth only with the 2nd civ in science and after you have 50% boost from RA.

Also I see plenty of faith. Did you use it to buy GS?

I went full tradition and rationalism with freedom. Didn't have enough gold to buy labs all in one turn, since most trade routes were internal, so bought one in cap and produced the rest (about 10 turns with factories). Got an observatory in Barcelona quite late, since astronomy was off the tech path. Bought as many GS as I could afford with faith (3). Also I had 2 caravans to cap constantly, so food wasn't problematic.

Think my main problem here is crappy religion and unwise use of faith (bought way too many missionaries to try to not waste 1200 faith on great prophet, in the process wasting like 2000 faith).

your end bpt of 1100 seems a bit small, with These City sizes you should be able to generate about 1500+ bpt with using all specialist Slots and with all usual policies in rati tree.

if u didnt finish like 30 turns after labs your endgame was not optimised.

But then this land isnt ueber (no observatory cap) - so finish in like turn 220 d be quite good and 250 isnt too bad.

My main trick to win fast is allieing all (most) CS, they kinda help a lot ..
The 3rd policy in patronage allone gives like 250 bpt

I would've planted my capital next to the river so you were able to build a garden. Maybe the 25% increase in GP would've made sure you got an extra GS, maybe 2.

Finished this game on T224 SV

The key is growth :) Freedom and all parts were bought. You also need strong culture to get the right policies to buy stuff cheaper and to buy space parts. Winning WF is a must. Religion was also helpful - gold for every 4 followers, mosques, 15% growth. But strong religion is not always possible.

One more thing is which I have already posted in another thread that bulbing post patch delays winning time by 10-20 turns since you can't really bulb multiple GS in 1 turn (in order not to waste beakers).

I wanted to try something funny so I played this crazy map and fooled around with a liberty + piety combination. Went 11 cities with a happy religion and jesuit education :) was fun, map certainly is OP.

Ended up finishing at turn 218 with freedom :)
Thanks for the map.

ending SS don't pay attention to bpt since I sold my labs for last shuttle part.

Here is a SS of all cities economics 2 turns before selling
