Civil War scenario: disappointing

I normally love the scenarios built in with Civilization 5. However, the Civil War scenario was terribly bland and I hated it. Two civilizations, two armies, one fight. Meh. No diplomacy, no exploration, no fun. Why couldn't they have chosen a more interesting topic for a BNW scenario?

I enjoy it. It's an attempt to take the combat mechanics for Civ 5 and bring them into a scenario that highlights them to the best possible extent. I am a little sad that it covers such a small geographic area though.

Seriously though, I wish they made the map a lot bigger in scale. The scenario was fun, but it would've been cool to have the map stretch from Texas to Maine.

I was really looking forward to playing a full Civil War era US map. Disappointed to hear that it's not so.

Modders to the rescue, I guess.
