Nice! Do you intend to do more? If so, here's a design for the Flash:

UA: Speed Force - Melee and gunpowder units gain +2 :c5moves: Movement.

UU: Speedster - Replaces Infantry. +1 :c5moves: Movement (on top of the UA bonus), which is kept on upgrade, allowing you to keep your speed advantage in the late game even against armored units.

UB: Flash Museum - Replaces Museum. In addition to the normal Museum effects, melee and gunpowder units trained in this city ignore enemy ZOC.

I'm very new to civ design, so this design is probably hilariously over- or underpowered. But hopefully it'll provide a starting point. :)

And just the other day, I was wondering why there's a surprisingly low number of comic book Civs.
And I thinking to make some at one point. (I'm still thinking to make some, but I'm afraid to step on your toes).

Anyways, good job with your first Civs!

@Klisz That's actually not bad. The unit's a bit weak, and I think it focuses too much on combat to reflect the character of the Flash, but the extra speed and enemy ZOC stuff I already kinda have via Magneto's promotions (one of them is essentially Quicksilver-like). And I'm not sure if I will do more, I'd love to, but they take quite a bit of time, if only to design. Check out the Steam page for the Complete Pack, there's a section addressing that in more detail.

@OTiger I know, right!? For so long, the only ones there were Batman, Supes, Wonder woman, and Aquaman. The fact that there was no Cappy civ was a travesty. And absolutely don't be afraid of stepping on my toes, as it were. The more comic civs, the better. I just wanted these to exist, and no one else had made them, so I just decided to do it. Even if you wanted to make your own version of anyone I made, have at it, I'm always curious for new designs for civs. And if you want a place to start, feel free to copy my code and stuff (just be careful of giving proper credit if you use stuff that I credit as not mine)

Also thank you! I just hope they work on other peoples' machines as well as mine!

This is pretty cool, though... Shouldn't Star Saphire's civ be the Zamarons, rather than just a generic "Star Saphire Empire"?

(P.S: as a huge Green Lantern fan, are there perhaps any OA, Ryut, or Sinestro Corps civs on the way? ...Maybe Jade or Tamaran as well?)

Ooh Doctor Doom!! Isn't he just the best Lawful/Evil character ever? Ok it's him or Vader.. but still yay!!!

Hey, thanks!

Anyways, I'm not a comic book guy, so you probably won't see them anytime soon.

@DoktorApplejuice Mmmmm. That might be better, actually. It's been a while since I decided that, so I don't remember the thought process, but I think it went something like this: The Zamarons were the original founders of the Corps, but the corps has members of many different races, including Carol, so it would be somewhat disingenuous to call the whole empire 'Zamarons'. Now, however, I'm thinking it might be better that way, especially to match any other lantern corps that I might end up making, because 'Green Lantern Empire' leaves something to be desired. Thanks for the suggestion.

As for if there will be more Lantern Corps, IF I end up making more (see the section in the Complete Pack steam page), I would love to have all of the colors as civs eventually, they'd be awesome to have. Problem is, most of them are kinda way down the list when compared to people like, you know, the rest of the Justice League. So, people like Indigo-1 and Saint Walker probably won't show for a while, but GL and Sinestro are most definitely on the short list.

@SonofaRose Yes. Yes, he is.

@OTiger Well even if you wanted to make non-comic civs, feel free to use the code as a base line. Point is, if you are interested in modding Civ 5, I say go for it, you'll learn a lot and it's pretty fun, and if starting with the stuff I made helps you start modding, by all means use it.

Glad to hear there'll be more; I'm a huge DC Comics fan. If you need help with anything, let me know, and I'll see if I can lend a hand.

First off: Thanks a lot for this great Mod, I am a huge comic books fan.

Here are my first impressions (All 10 DC Civs (large), continents, all settings standard):

I constantly win regular BNW games on immortal, but I actually had problems first because playing against this super Civs is slightly different.

In general I usually neglect my early military on immortal game. Don't do this in this mod. I had to restart 3 times because two times Zod rushed me like crazy. Shaka or Attila are nothing compared to General Zod. In my first game I actually was allied with a city state that was right between us. He took the city state in 2 turns!!! and my second city two turns later!
One time I gave up because I took my sweet time getting my first settler out and Martian Manhunter put 5 cities around me. I didn't even have a decent spot for my second city left. Never so any AI expand that fast.

In my 4th game I didn't neglect my military and expanded fast, and I was kind of lucky because I was on a small continent with Black Adam only. I am about to enter the modern area and everything is going fine:

Please keep in mind this is my first play through so your experience might be very different:

Wonder Woman:
Seems to be a little bit OP. She had already 30,000 culture in the renaissance. So unless you kill her, a culture victory is always in possible to achieve in this mod. She is also strong in the early game (thanks to her unique unit) and is the religious leader in my play through. She also already spammed a dozens wonders in the early game. She was number 1 and Sups number 2, but she kicked the hell out of him.

Zod: Brutal in the early game. If you are his neighbor, be very very guarded and build up some early military. He will spam units like crazy and rush you. Probably the best domination Civ in the mod.

Black Adam: His unique unit is quite good, but still I wiped him out easily in my play through. (But okay every AI is just terrible at war.) He had a flood plains start in my play through, which I think he should always get. Strangely, in my first game when I was playing him myself, I got a coastal/tundra start. I would have been able to start my third city in desert, but the culture bonus only applies to the capital. And anyway not being able to use your unique improvement in your capital just makes him terribly weak. (He should always get a desert start!)

Deadshot: He seems to be really weak. I am actually using him in my current play through and I will probably win, but he is really weak. I already had 4 wars against Black Adam, but I just got a tiny bit of science and money out of that. For sure weaker than Assyria´s UA. His UUs are really cool but come just at the very end of the game. (So a big disadvantage compared to Wonder Woman, Zod, Black Adam,...)
I think he should be made stronger.

Lex Luthor: He goes for quite some city states like he is supposed to. Seems to be one of the weaker Civs.

Superman: Well he is above average and seems to usually do quite well, he also like to befriend city states.

Batman: He is the science leader like he is supposed to and settles every where he can.

Martian Manhunter: He is number 2 in science (also to be expected), also likes to ally with city states from time to time. Other Civs usually dont seem to like him. Maybe because he expands early on?

Nothing special so far about the others Civs. I hope the feedback helps. maybe I will write some more after I finished the playthrough. And next I will check out the 10 Marvel Civs.

Greetings!

p.s.: Thanks for all the effort. I would love to see more Civs, but rather than working on that I would favour putting in 3rd and 4th unique component. I play almost all my games with this mod and it gives the Civs so much more additional flavour. You can also use it to rebalance the Civs. For example give deadshot some good early UBs or UUs and Wonder Woman some weaker 3rd and 4th uc.

@Earthangel81

Oh dang, I haven't checked back here in a while, didn't even know anyone had commented! Thanks for the thorough impressions! It's nice to have some feedback from an immortal-level player, as I am very much not, and I barely even know people who play the game. I'm almost certainly going to be making some balance tweaks based on your feedback.

It's good to see that most of them are acting very much within their personalities, but having never played on Immortal, some of the stuff they can apparently do sounds ridiculous! And yes, these civs are much more military-focused on average than the core civs, but that mostly comes from them, you know, punching gods occasionally and generally being good at fighting. The baddest of the bad guys will be military powerhouses, and the otherwise peaceful good guys will want tools to defend themselves. So, yeah, lots more fighting, but it comes with the territory.

I'll include the tweaks into the next release of civs, which will hopefully be pretty soon. As for more unique components, while I'm not against the idea in theory, I don't like to make civs that are blatantly better than the base-game civs, or what like 80-90% of the workshop civs are balanced around. Also, at this point, going back and adding an additional unique component for (soon to be) 24 civs would probably eat up most ideas I would have for new civs' uniques, and kill my interest in the mod.

Wonder Woman: That... is a lot of culture. Dayum. I think the problem is that she has a crazy good production bonus early game, and so grabs all the wonders she can, which continually feeds into the late game. The religious leader thing is interesting, but absolutely intended, so that's fine. I think the big point I need to tweak is her UA; at least one side of it needs to go down in power, as is I can see how she just eats all the wonders and then poops culture forever.

Zod: I think starting with a Great General might be one of the more powerful things for his military in the early game, but his UUs could probably use some tuning back. I'm curious how many of each type of UU he builds in the average game, because it can't be very many if it's all Black Zeros. I think I'll lower the strength of his early-era UUs and cut back on the Black Zero's bonus against wounded units and cities by 10-15%, that should still keep them very powerful, even very early, but take SOME of the edge off of his huge surprise-assaults.

Black Adam: I agree wholeheartedly, but I have very little control over that, or at least I have no idea what code I'd have to use to force it. He obviously has a starting bias for desert, but, much like Doctor Doom's tundra bias, it's far from a guarantee, which is very annoying. Honestly, if you play Black Adam and don't get a desert start (or Doom with tundra), I'd say it's be easier to just restart and reseed the map.

Deathstroke: who I assume you meant by Deadshot. That's some good feedback right there. Looking back on it, I can see how the numbers would not be very high. I'll be pumping up the numbers on his UA, and probably giving a bit more to his UUs, since they do come late. But when they do come, he should have a huge advantage in warfare until the other civs catch up in science (assuming that he has a lead over many civs in science, which the better UA would help with).

Lex Luthor: seems like he's in a good spot, as the city states bonus is pretty powerful. I think his weakness comes from the fact that he isn't very focused, but just generally powerful. He has a bonus to military in his UU, and his UB gives him a broad set of boosts, as compared to a lot of other UBs. I think I'll up the % bonuses in his UB a little, but he shouldn't need much love.

Superman: I would think it's pretty easy to do well with him, but he also suffers from a lack of focus. He can make huge, impenetrable cities pretty easily. If anything, I might take away a point of GPP generation on his UU and maybe increase the penalty for attacking cities somewhat.

Batman: The 'settles everywhere he can' thing doesn't sound like him, but I suppose it works fine with the design. I'll look into it, but it might just be the way the game plays him.

Martian Manhunter: I'm curious how he does in terms of culture, as he's supposed to have a pretty equal focus on culture and science. From what you said, he doesn't seem to be overly powerful, so that's good. And yeah, everyone hates when their cities are completely encompassed by another civ :D Him expanding like CRAZY is kind of intended for the design, but maybe not as crazy-fast as you said. I don't think his AI weight for expansion is at the max, probably a couple points below, but I guess I'll have to tweak it down a touch.
