Anyone interested in doing one of these? They were popular last year on the Civ V strategy forum and are currently going through round 2 now (although with some growing pains). This is my favorite way to get better at this game, which is seeing how many different people approach the same game and explain/record how they worked their magic against the AI.

Maybe its too early, I am not sure if BERT is going to turn into BERTIE or not next year or two years from now, but should we even bother waiting? Either way, I think it'd be cool since there isn't a BERT Game of the Month or even BE game of the month for us to do.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this idea?

For reference, here is what was done in Civ V:

And this is how it ended:

The current iteration, the CDG, also puts achievements in, which are a pretty cool idea but are also the cause of most of the drama. The real point is for n00bs like me who don't have time to figure out this game to learn from the best one Civ at a time. It really helps, strategy guides are nice but seeing the strategies in action and seeing where I went wrong and why versus how another player dominated the map. Plus there is the glory aspect, we'd need a nice spreadsheet to track the victories or something in a google doc like the DCL has. I've searched the forums high and low and found nothing suggesting this has been done yet, so what does everyone think?

Good idea. I lurk most of the time and like reading especially the challenge threads, but there's so little going on on the BE(RT) part of this forum...

I'd love to see something like this.

There don't seem to be too many "high level" players who didn't get bored by the game yet, but I've seen people asking for guides and help to get better here, on reddit, in the steam forums... so maybe making it a "Let's figure things out together"-thing could do well.

Just wouldn't expect it to be a huge success, the community as a whole isn't that big and the ones who play seem to be people who prefer just playing along instead of trying to actively improve.

I'm in the "just play-around" category myself rather than a serious player, but I'd certainly love watching some serious players take their gloves off and bare-knuckle brawl.

As a very new player, this sounds like a great idea to learn from. I've been praticing some of the strategies in this forum over the past week when I have time. I really like the mass explorer > 5 cities > Espionage strategy.

Well, that's 4 and a half people including myself that seem somewhat interested, at least interested enough to post on this thread anyways. Not a lot of people have to want this for it to be successful though, all it takes is one person posting a good Apollo map once a week or once every two weeks and then we see where it goes. I'll think some more about it though, and check back next week.

Back in BE original release I did 2 of these. You guys can copy the template as much as you wish.

I need to learn how to search better, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for!!!! I'm going to try these out first before trying to beat this dead horse around some more. I technically don't even own BERT yet, but I have a 33% off coupon to use by 2/29 so I was just getting a feel for what people are interested in.

Those aren't Rising Tide challenges and they're from before the game was patches - I highly doubt they work properly.

Yeah I saw that, lots of bugs and lots of complaints. I'll try them anyway, and post my findings.

Any new series will need Rising Tide and Map packs will be intentionally excluded so that anyone can play them. But this formula is a blast on V (At least I think it is anyways), so I'd love to try it on BERT.
