ESPN ad wont close

Why doesn't the "close" button work when the ESPN video games ad that comes up on the Main Page? All the other ads you can hit close and it will go away. But with the ESPN ad you have to wait for it to fade away.

Actually, Internet Explorer has a pop-up blocker.

In regards to the original post, why do you ever have to visit the main page?, just come straight to the forums.
