TERM IV MSAV MILITARY REFORM BILL - 980 AD, Section 1C.

TERM IV MSAV MILITARY REFORM BILL - 980 AD, Section 1C.

THIS POLL IS MULTIPLE OPTION, ABSTAIN IS UNDER OTHERS

This bill subsection 1C will call for the demobilization of

2 warriors
2 horsemen
11 spearmen

within 3 turnchats of the game, to be demobilized in Grumpypuss and Kagemusha
in order to bolster our weak defenses on the combined French-Zulu Border.
Warriors and spearmen are regular, and horsemen veteran, and the remainder of
trained units are already upgraded. This is the infoerior quality forces that are to be demobilized into civilian labor, and should be a non controversial reform.

My protocal would be:

Demobilize the Warriors As soon as convienent. These upgrades to swords are nowheresville.

UPGRADE the Veteran Horsemen to Calvery if we get or are close to Military Tradition within 3 TCs. Otherwise, Upgrade to Samurai, if possible. Otherwise, either hold to MT or Disband, confer with DM Zarn.

Demobilize the Regular Spearmen, but ONLY when each is relieved by either a Musket, Rifle, or a Veteran Pike unit, case by case.

Oh, and I don't see Abstain here...

Abstain is for pagan tribesmen, statesmen like us do not need abstain. I also included other for those who have their own input. Abstain cannot hide a lack of vision, imagination, creativity here. If they write abstain, fine for them.

My opinion is we shouldn't demobilize the spearmen - not quite yet

Our military is strong and we can allow these units to retire. We have a high unit support cost and it is only going to get worse once we switch to a representative government.

The horsemen do have a reasonable upgrade path and should be considered for upgrade to Cav.

Am I correct in assuming that the idea here is to disband these units in either Grumpypuss or Kagemusha? If so I'd like to point out that the timing (within three turn chats) is too subjective since there is no guarantee as to the length of any given turn chat. I'd suggest a better format (for the future) would be to base this kind of deadline on number of turns, preferably stating a game year by which it shuld be completed if passed.

Since this is a multi choice poll, I want to vote for all the top thre options, I only voted for the spearmen, not realizing that fact.

Abstain, public poll.

No option for abstain included in poll - poor poll design there.

Thank you, you specified Abstain which is your full right to do so. I consider Abstain not superior or inferior to those ideas, visions and plans as a democratic option, and will be treated on the same level, alternative plan or abstain.

We should not demobilize anything until we have suitable replacements for them.

Don't disband the spears nor the horses. The warriors are useless as they don't upgrade to anything useful. I'd also disband swords. It's not like we'll ever go to war again.

Over a thirty turn time frame (which is very long), I'd would probably disband them all and take what shields I could, strictly for economic reasons. Our military is strong and advanced and we are fully capable of resupplying our perimiters with reinforcements.

It's a shame this isn't C3C where the units upgrade into something worthwhile, also a shame we cannot gift these units to a weaker country.

Why don't we evenly distribute the disbandments so instead of a few cities getting extra shields a lot will?

Cannot do that, we need to strenghten peripheral cities where we have borders.

Because other cities (other than perhaps a couple in the Roman province) can produce more than one shield per turn.
