changing citizens into entertainers

Hi,
when I try changing the citizens into entertainers in C3C it doesnīt work. Right clicking opens the Civilopedia, left clicking, I can either turn off the Governor (which I do), but after that I still canīt do much. Hovering over the tiles I see which citizen does which, but I can only change the smallest one, relieving them from work and changing them into tax collectors or scientists - that I canīt... but why?
ciao

Left clicking on the face of the tax collector will cycle through the various specialists.

You did it right when you turned the governor off. Next you have to take a citizen off a tile to create the entertainer. Then if you left click on the entertainer you can change him to a tax coillector or a scientist.

You should learn to play without the governor because it usually creates entertainers when a tax collector or scientist will help more and still keep the city from roiting.

sp / mp settings?

"Left clicking on the face of the tax collector will cycle through the various specialists."

It would, but as I wrote, I canīt create entertainers although the governor is turned off.

"You did it right when you turned the governor off. Next you have to take a citizen off a tile to create the entertainer."

That latter part I canīt do... I can do it in a single player game I just started. Could it be that in some scenarios this is somehow prevented? I was playing on Zach Wilsons Earth standard size map.

You need to click on a food/shield/commerce resource to remove the laborer. That makes it a specialist.

You can toggle between taxman, scientist etc, but don't get an entertainer? Maybe the 'clown' gfx is messed up... If this would be the case, you should still see the effect of an entertainer.
Btw: governor is on or off does not matter in the first place; you get a dialogue box anyways when you overrule the governor's weird settings.

Entertainers work like a charm on that map, unless you modded it even more. I wonder if it's possible to mod away entertainers at all, though.
Anyways, this somehow smells like the biggest misunderstanding since Ghandi's last sneak-attack...

Basically, do what CT says. Maybe a pic helps. So here's one, you can see a city view.

If you left click on that forest working tile 'A', you will turn one working citizen into a specialist. The specialist will show up at 'C', right next to the other specialist (a scientist in this case), who already sits there. You'd then have two specialists in that city.
To make an entertainer out of the present scientist, you would left-click directly on his nose; maybe once, twice... untill the entertainer shows up by magic.
The entertainer has a -icon, but you should at least notice the effect of your manipulation at 'D'.

My oracle (which usually tells crap) said that you possibly clicked on 'B'? That's the city center square. Left-clicking it results in re-assigning worker jobs at the city governor's pleasure. This procedure *may* result in different specialists showing up.

Hope this helps.

PS:
To be honest, better try without entertainers...

No, thatīs not it. I canīt create any specialist at all: Any tile thatīs being worked on and that I click at doesnīt change anything. If I click on a tile that is empty, the "least important" or least fruitful tile changes. I canīt modify any other.

True, but the entertainer gfw is o.k. - when a city starts to riot (because I canīt change anything except the entertainment slider @F1 screen) a popup asks me whether I want to leave them riot or give them entertainment. Thatīs the only time I get entertainers, and most of the time it is not enough to stop rioting.

Really? Iīll have to try that out... the message is usually, "do you want to stop the governor?" after that I can (in a SP game, not the scenario) create specialists no prob...

What could be the reason for a player not to be able to overrule the governor? Itīs played on prince level, all human players are predefined and their civilizations have the governor turned off by default. Is there maybe another setting I perhaps forgot or overlooked?

*hehe*
Maybe, although I donīt have difficulties to create specialists except in that scenario... Unfortunately I canīt open and see your attachment, civfanatics tells me itīs not a valid link (the webmaster is notified). Basically, I know how to create specialists, Iīm usually playing on regent level as a casual player but in this case, I donīt know what could be wrong.

Grendel
