Centrino question

Hi guys,
I need a new laptop and I actually don't really know what a centrino processor is. I know is designed for laptops, but that's all.
When looking around for a laptop, I always notice that laptops with a centrino processor that are about the same price as ones without one (with a normal one, that is) have a lot less Mhz. Why is that? Why is the price still about the same. I've seen this with a 2.8 normal one and a 1.5 Ghz centrino. Were about the same price...

Is centrino faster or what? Do I have to scale up the 1.5 GHz to compare it to other processors?

thanks,

I've found something. Dunno if it's right, but it may help some..

"Double the centrino clock speed, take off 0.2 = comparable P4 processor performance, info from Intel.
So (1.6 x 2) - 0.2 = 3Ghz"
