FastCiv.exe

FastCIV can potentially speed up your Civilization III Conquests game by increasing its priority in the system (only Windows 2000 or newer).

Instructions:

Register to the site (This is both free and required)
Download
Unzip to desktop, read and delete install.txt
Double click on FastCIV

Windows will now allocate most of the processing speed to Conquests, hopefully making those huge maps/scenarios more enjoyable to play. However, the speed increase is not always guaranteed, but some people have reported 10% - 15% increase in loading times.

Avoid using this utility if you plan on browsing the web or using other applications while playing.

In all honesty, the chances of this are so small as to be virtually nil. - RedRalphWiggum
Agreed. But when has that ever stopped an OT thread? - IglooDude
