Spartan wonder: Lacedaimonian discipline
Hi, this is a new wonder about the spartans. In the civilopedia icon there is a town and a fort/training ground. In the main splash there is an ancient painting of some spartan training games, and in the alternative splash you can see mount Taygetos, in Sparta, the sacred mountain of the ancient spartans,

I love the building, but the splash...it just doesn't seem Spartan enough (or in some other way just doesn't sell the idea to me). Yeah, what do Americans know about it, but I don't want to disappoint varwnos. By the way, shouldn't most Spartan wonders be greatly overshadowed by the Athenian ones? The PL beats the DL and all "we" learn in school is about Athens.

Hm, well did you REALLY want to see just another splash with spartan hoplites?
![]() The first splash is the one meant to be used by most, and it is at least spartan, since it is a melanography of spartans practising ![]() As for the peloponnesian war, i was supporting Sparta when we were reading that in elementary school (due to the rather strange, and not particularly good anyway, greek educational system we read the same stuff over and over again during the school years, and at least when i was in school the byzantine era was covered only a bit, whereas the ancient greek era lasted for years and years) but in reality Sparta wasn't much more than just a very strict and disciplined society where everything revolved around the ability to wage wars, or rather the ability to make other states fear you enough so that you wouldnt have to go to war. Athens was by far a more interesting place to have lived ![]() oh well, if more people think that a splash with spartans in uniform would be better i may consider it, ty for the comments anyway ![]() Kyriakos

Your starting to get pretty good at this Varwnos...I'm impressed. Are you on the Polypenian War mod team by any chance?

Yes, actually currently that team consists only of me! Which means that it will take A VERY LONG TIME untill that mod is completed (that is if you meant the one in my signature)

I'm surprised Xen didn't step up to the plate. I think you should look for a guy named Kryten's work, he made ALOT of Hoplites and other Greek units, and a complete list of who's who from what he made. Its a real shame hes gone now.
