World Cup. Got Milk?

Quote:
German Politician to World Cup: Got Milk?

In the land of beer, a politician wants milk sold at the 2006 World Cup in Frankfurt, Germany.

Christian Wulff, the governor of Lower Saxony state, wrote open letters to FIFA chief Sepp Blatter and organizing committee chief Franz Beckenbauer yesterday, urging organizers to allow milk bars to be set up at World Cup stadiums in Germany.

One of the stadiums is in Hanover, where Wulff's government is based. Two milk bars have been set up at games there and successful sales show that "soccer fans like milk as well."

Coca-Cola, which has exclusive rights for selling nonalcoholic beverages at stadiums, denied Wulff's assertion that it banned sales of milk at World Cup games. The company said it gave back milk rights to FIFA two months ago.

-- From News Services
Will milk be sold at these games. Will fans drink milk over beer or soda. Seems that more and more stuff is being sold at sporting games. Now every type of food seems to be sold at games.

It seems people already buy it at games so it might be a success... Not sure whether fans from particular countries would be more likely to buy milk than from others...

Well they'd have at least one customer, since I'll probably be going and I drink milk.

But seriously. I think selling milk alongside beer and other drinks wouldn't be a bad idea, don't see the harm...

The beer they sell here at football events has next to no alcohol in it.

Wulff should be indicted for high treason.

Let me guess, Lower Saxony is a large dairy producing area.
More of a wild guess this one, he's up for re-election soon.

It's been announced today that Annheuser-Busch is going to allow Bitburg to be sold at the games as well as Budweiser. Until the deal was struck, there was the real possibility of a World Cup in Germany with only American "beer" to drink....
