Ok Vizurok, my neighbour, you're in. I agree with Khan Asparuh's roster, so you're also up.
Too bad we couldn't build Panzer. Perhaps our oil supply ran dry... And Russian army is bigger that our magnificent one single warrior? How could that be? Nice playing anyway, not exactly my usual, but hey, I'm here to learn. P.S.: For a Frenchman you speak english very well.

Got it!
I think that I will play it tomorrow (Wednesday) evening, (finally we can use CET ) but the game seems interesting, so I may play it tonight. Our starting position is not the best I've seen, but it will be OK. Why havent you popped the hut out? I think that I will stay with a Settler, but I'm not sure where to found the new city. I'm not very good in dotmaps, but I've marked three points fitting me... All replies and comments are welcomed about city placement before playing my turns... 10 turns, right? My dotmap: http://forums.civfanatics.com/attach...id=85944&stc=1 Pen1_VizDotMap1.JPG

They're good spots, not to close to eachother, but too far away from Berlin. I think you should place cities closer to our capital. Perhaps a city E/SE of incense, and E of GH. Then you'll still have enough room for the marked cities.

First of all, I will play my turns on Wednesday.
If E of GH means East of Gold Hill, I totally agree. If not, well... we'll check it... I'm a bit afraid of Russia being and expanisonist civ, that's the reason for planning cities quite far from Berlin.

Expansionnist doesn't really play for the settling, they will just pop a few techs before us (already did in fact).
I deliberately hold the dotmap, not much of our neighborhood is known, I think that we must look around and then decide. However, I think that E of the Goodie Hut or the gold mountain (if the first one isn't on the coast) is to come, but I would first settle the FP. Pentium, I'm a Bulgarian living in Paris ...Quote:
![]() EDIT: Ever heard ot the Goody Hut Paranoia (GHP) sickness? It develops up from Monarch I guess. Only one cure is known today - Expansionnist.

BTW Guys, I have some lightning strikes on my head (Maybe Lightning Strikes Twice in my WinAmp to be precise), this is vanilla, I think that RCP still works, so lets try to get it.
A 3.5 distance is tough but a 4-4.5 can be worth it. So a dotmap of the first ring: If the western dot moves N it'll be at 4.5 too (not needed however, only if it's still on the coast).

I'd say let's get first the Insens Hill Spot, then the Wheat (let's settle NW of it on the river). What do you think of it (just know, it's the first RCP dotmap I've ever made...). And our settlers must be protected.

GH meant Goodie Hut, but east of Gold is good too. I didn't know about the RCP until I found CFC, and I never used it. So I guess your plan is good. Our first settler will be protected with the warrior, then we'll see. Quote:

OK, I'm starting my turns, update in an hour...
I would disagree a bit with Kahn's dotmap (I know that mine is not perfect, too!), for example the NW town lies in the middle of mountains and deserts, so I will change it shown in my picture. The settler escort will be our newly-born warrior regiment...

Preturn: Absulutely nothing!
![]() Turn 1 (2950 BC): Our Warrior in Berlin is ready to go... will stay in the city to avoid riots until our settler arrives (5 turns). I decrease lux to 30%. Turn 2 (2900 BC): Worker finishes roading the cattle, starts mining. IT: A Russian Spearman arrives to the borders of Berlin. Turn 3 (2850 BC): Our Northern Warrior meets with a French Warrior, they seem to be northeast from the Russians. They have Masonry and Alphabet, but they don't want to trade one of them for Pottery or Warrior Code, of course. Turn 4 (2800 BC): Nothing. Turn 5 (2750 BC): Settler is completed in Berlin, starting a Warrior. Settler is heading north with the Warrior. Turn 6 (2710 BC): Warrior spots the Eastern Sea. Turn 7 (2670 BC): Warrior is done, a new Settler is being built, we need to expand quickly (but it can be cancelled in your turns). He will stay there because of the lack of gold... we can't afford raising lux. Turn 8 (2630 BC): Our Settler Pair has arrived to my city spot. Worker finishes mining and moves to the bonus grassland for mining to the E. He discoveres a shore to the SW in 2 tiles... Turn 9 (2590 BC): Leipzig is founded at my spot... sorry for it... and starts warrior (can be changed). We need a new worker!Turn 10 (2550 BC): A new Settler is ready in Berlin with a Warrior escort... I won't move them, the decision is upon the next player. That's all folks, I have to check who's on... Any comment and critics are welcome...

Hi, all,
Some after reading remarks... Vizurok, what did we get from the Goodie Hut? Weren't we able to get 2 for 1 tech from France? Otherways they'll meet Russia and get them... Was there a chance for a Three-fer, to get Alpha, Myst and Masonry? I'm a dreamer you know. One more thing. That's continents, we can B-line for MMaking to meet the world. In bulgarian we say Neft, so it's almost the same thing as Nafta. But the bulgarians, slovenians and hungarians rise with the knowledge of Refining, I don't think the germans do. A remark concerning Leipzig. It's placement is too underefficient IMO. The wheat is out of it's borders, it takes place for 2 cities ... Do we really want to go OCP? It's too wide for me and useless until mid IA... Maybe I'll try to do a dotmap with first ring at 5-5.5 . But for the others, lets build tighter. We (will) have a settler factory going (soon)... I'll check the save tonight and write something tomorrow for the next set of turns. I hope you don't mind my critics, Vizurok. No bad feelings, right?

No, of course...
1. The GH was deserted, I haven't even noticed it... 2. No, the French wouldn't sell anything... I could get 10 gold for one of our techs... 3. I didn't want to change The Wheel... we're quite close to it... We must achieve the basic techs first, then the MM-way. 4. About Leipzig: I like to have a powerful city with almost 21 tiles... and if we go to space, we will need a city like Leipzig (hopefully). The next settler is your decision. You can start building RCP, if you want, it's OK for me.

OK.
I doubt I'll play until next week, no Internet for me on weekends, so if my turn comes just swap me.

Nice. I won't be able to play till monday too, so we'll wait for Kong to come back. And here is may idea about the placement: The right blue dot should be a small city and probably abandoned later. The left one will be our Incense city.

I'd go for this dotmap, I've never really been worried about tight builds.
What do you think (again RCP distance 4, pink is first to get the lux). |

So, we're using PinkDot(tm)? We'll have to win now...
I'm cut form civ on weekends (I believe it's my last weekend without Civ), so we'll have to wait for Chunky Kong. He said he's back today or tomorrow. And since we have some time to discuss strategy, here is my advise: 1. Settle on the PinkDot to get a luxury. 2. AFAIK, we only have one worker. We should get a least one more, so we can connect incense quickly. 3. Khan's RCP sound good to me. Of course, feel free to do something different.

We can build whatever we want because my settler was created in my last turn.
I agree with the dotmap... a settler and a warrior is ready to travel to the incense field...
