Font Error with New Civ Complete Edition

I have been playing Civ3 vanilla now for awhile on my computer just fine and decided to get new Civ complete editions with Conquests and PTW. I unstalled vanilla as asked and install new civ complete (after about 1 hr install, but I digress). I went to start a new game and get a "font error" diaglog box on the initial splash screen right after the program set my confuration settings. I been researching the site here and the Atari site and found nothing directly related. I did see comments on fonts and tried removing them and did not solve the problem. Of course Atari has no support beyond the website that I am aware of. I downloaded the recommended patch and have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. I have since went back to vanilla and it is working fine and have $40 of software sitting on my shelf. Does anybody have ideas to what I can do?

How many fonts do you have installed?

I had 30-50, but I removed them all including the Lucida and left the ones mentioned on the atari support site and that did not work.


Right now I am thinking it may be the video card/drivers which is a Nvidia Vanta LT. I saw some references to that and Direct X 9.0. After I installed/uninstalled Civ Complete, my monitor is screwd up and has dark lines everywhere. I been trying to find updated video drivers from Nvidia, but not having luck. May have to get rid of the Nvidia card. Would not recommend Nvidia for anyone.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.
