Revolts???
Imagine this:
"You're cruising through the game, conquering neighbouring civs and generally expanding your Empire. Then, just when you think things cant go wrong, the cities which are on the other side of the world which you havnt thought about for a while start to revolt. People take to arms, overthrow your rule, and create their own little "civilization", possibly joined/allied to other nearby revolting cities. You then march in your armies, and crush their rebellion, massacring the leaders..." What do you think??? Id like to see this, because it represents virtual realism, and would be fun (crushing rebellions for example)...

I like this idea. But they don't have to be republics. After world war one, some cities in germany were taken over by communists and a communist state was proclaimed. Is there a way to determine what government the rebels want?

I think this idea is already in another thread, but anyway, I think this should be in civ4 because revolutions were so importants in history (in France, USA, south america, ...). When there is a revolution, all the surrounding cities (or settlements maybe) would be in high risk to revolt, so the original civ would have to quell the rebels fast. Rebellions may have some kind of bonus (free unit every turn, maybe) so they aren't too disadvantaged over a enormous civ.

Rebellions would be helped greatly if provinces were added in the game.
Heh, since I know they won't be in c4 proper... perhaps in an expansion pack? |

I am probably one of the few people that hope that revolts/revolutions/rebellions/civil wars/ect. are NOT included in CIV 4. I have not seen one plan that actually would make me think that it would work as well as people think it would. Call me a pessimist or an idiot if you care but I forsee this whole thing as either turning into culture flips on a national level and/or a micromanaging nighmare (to prevent them). Either way, my fun factor would be greatly impacted in the negative. And in answer to your final question, the folks at Firaxis do visit this site to guage fan interest. |

And then, they will go up to Monarch level and it will happen to THEM And out of a sudden, the additional penalties for having not paid enough attention to your distant province's mood while being at war on the other side of the world will be "game-breaking!" O.k, this may be a little bit disproportionate, but you see the picture... A concept should work on both sides, or it shouldn't be in the game. And I agree that - from the descriptions - most of those concepts won't work at all...

Actually, I look forward to civil wars. They'll give my massive army something to do to pass the time between attacks.
