Fantasy/Alternate history unit request: Roman Nepolianic Legion

Well, we've got Medival legions, Renaissse Legions, Industrial Legions and Modern Legions, why not a Nepolianic Era Legion to bridge the gap?

Maybe one of the concept art guys(Topgun, Shiro or Kal-El) could draw it based on this description:

Think Legion helmut, with the crest slightly taller(flare was a big thing during Napolianic Times), and the shield pattern instead on the front of the Legion's uniform. Colored red of coarse, with black boots rather than sandals and wearing pants instead of the tradional Roman garb. Armed with a bayonet flintlock rifle of coarse.

obviouslly, I'm on board, though with a slightlyl different concept of what it woudl look like; more liek a dismounted cuirassir then standard line infantry of the time; a shiny brest plate woudl look very cool, after all, and give a more obvious look to the unit as being an incarnation of the classic legionary

Should it be in the Napolianic style, Legion style, or a hybrid of the two?

a hybrid; in all fairness, the renaissance and Neo-CLassical periods were all filled with Greco-Roman influenced unifrms anyway, and so anythign made woudlnt be that out of place for the period, but it be nice to have a more firm cementing in more tradtional roman garb, such as the aforemention best plate, and a melmet styled like the firaxs civ3 standard legion, and a tradional Galdius as a side-arm, and an over-tunic (still weaing pants and boots, and the tunic itself shoudl have long sleaves)

Maybe the Gladius could attach to the Rifle, Bayonet style?

that would defeat the purpose of having it as a side arm rather just make an attached bayonet, to create a image the brings to mind the classic Roman Pilum, but with what was once a thrown javlin, is now a gun, with a blade attached

I guess thats not unreasonable, considering alot of troops at that time did indeed carry swords. Romans were practical, so the Legions would still be prepared for anything on the battlefield...

No Takers? After this unit, that completes the Legion line. Please someone find it in their heart to do this...

I have requested this before, and I definitely support it!

I also think it would be better to add more Roman touches, because, at Civ scale, it can be hard to tell if the unit is "Roman." Kinboat's modern legion, I felt, could have used more Roman elements.

well I had some sketches, I wasnt sure how to make it look roman, I had a basic Nepolianic infantry man with a roman short sword and a roman helmet, but at civ scale you wouldnt be able to tell. so what things should I add to make it look roman?

you have to remember; since the renaisannce, europe had been doing its best to re-invigourate the old Greco-Roman styles of uniform anyway; that said, I'll make a drawing, I'm not that bad at it any more, really

Sounds like a great unit to me. Somebody should put together a "What if Rome never fell?" scenario using all the Roman units.
