Faster paced gameplay?
A screenshot in this thread says that sid meier himself said that civ4 would have "faster paced gameplay". any theorys on what this means? It could be a result of the "simplify!" idea, making the game more playable and understandable. however, i fear that this means there will be less in depth devolpments, and a much more war-driven game. that last part seems the most real, and hence, one of the most scary. Plus, it seems to try to appeal to gamers "outside" civ, rather than appealing to the base.
Thoughts? |

I'm worried. I am not personnally a warmonger, it would unbalance the whole thig in favor of war, if what you say is right. I don't really like it too much.

They said the game would be no more and no less complex than it was in Civ 3. So I don't think they're simplifying in the way you think. The kind of simplification is probably to make other parts of the game more complex.
Still, faster paced gameplay... how would you pull that off? I'd personally get rid of the turn to turn micromanagement boredom like some of the repetitive exploits I've constantly talked about. If you spend more time on multi-turn strategies (with new features) and less time trying to optimize your research, production and movement each and every turn, the game would move faster AND be more strategic. It's win-win. |

The game is ALREADY strongly biased towards warmongering, at least at the higher levels. I hope it doesn't become like all other "strategy" games where you just build a huge army and kick everybody's butt.
