More SPORE info..

Spore Webpage

The intro's rather funny, and it has some screenshots, too. I kind of like the goofy-techno-spacey type music...

Spore looks like it'll be the game to end all games for me. I can't wait for it to come out.

*drools* This is the game I've been waiting my whole freaking life for. o_o It's incredible! The players make the content, thus improving the game. Then these players recommend the game to people, a number of whom buy it. They thus create more content for the game, thus recommending the game to more people, etc...

It's kind of like Civ4. The game really could be release now, but would be missing several things -

1 - Extra features.
2 - Artwork. (this one is a buggy on in SPORE right now)
3 - Bug fixes.
4 - Gameplay tweaking.

Even when you have a basic game engine with very basic actions, you could call that a game, but it wouldn't be much without all the features.

I like the flash intro. No idea what the game is about, though.

I am aware, it was sarcasm.

Though personally the graphics look ok already.

I agree. Since you can control evolution you can make completely ridiculously looking creatures. The best thing is that they are uploaded automatically, giving other people the opportunity to see them without you lifting a finger.

A pity a lot of people will think that way, making it hard to go crazy without people thinking "Oh no, not another crazy creature".

But it'll still be fun to see what you can come up with...

1 - I wonder what'll happen if you unplug the cable and it can't get new creatures.

2 - What if I don't want to add creatures from other's games all the time? (or what if I want mine to look realistic, and not have someone's 10 legged bird with 2 tails, and a pink/green polka dotted texture?)

BTW, on another forum, someone took a whole bunch of question (I asked some too) to Wil Wright, and got most of them answered.

Also, the release date is Fall 2006.

Theres going to be thousands of creatures put onto the cd so it won't be a problem if you don't have the internet.

edit: And if anyone cares, http://www.gamingsteve.com/ has a ton of info about spore. He got an interview with will wright and hes going to be posting a podcast in a couple of days about it..

@Sub - yeah, I have an account there. He's gonna post a huge interview with Will Wright any hour now...

Anyway:

SPORE Video from the GDC. Registration is free, and you can just enter in (none) for the company.

The juicy content is about 12, 30 and 43 minutes into the video. It's a little over 1 hour long!!!

I still dont know what this game is about?
Is it a combination of SimEarth, SimCity, Civilization, and Star Wars: Rebelion?
