RGC2 - The India Trade Company
(Thunderfall suggested that we post this announcement here.)
As some of you may know, this March a new contest was launched - The Rhye's of Civilization Monthly Challenge (RMC). Well, because the challenge did not end up being monthly, it was renamed the Rhye's of Civilization Goal-based Challenge (RGC) and very soon the second challenge will begin at last - The India Trade Company. In this challenge, players will take the helm in the Netherlands and lead the Dutch to colonial glory - either in the Americas to the West in or in the Near and Far East. Players will have to dominate trade, conquer the seas, and colonize the far reaches of the Earth. And as if all of that weren't hard enough, they need to do so with a minimal amount of cities back in Europe! So get those Cogs in gear, reinforce your dams, and get ready to explore and dominate, because RGC2 starts Saturday, May 21!

Wow, this is exactly like that thing that Aeon and I talked about before. It was really fun when I did it.

This looks very interesting. I will try to finish this time. On RMC1 I got so close but got busy and couldn't cope with the long turns at the end.
Question: If I have 3 European cities and then abandon 1 or 2 before the first checkpoint (not likely), will there be a penalty? The rules just say we can't raze or conquer-and-abandon. |

You'll get the 1 city bonus if you keep only one city from the first checkpoint on. You'll have to keep only 1 city until the end of the game. But I doubt that it's useful.

Are we allowed to move the capital to where our colonies are or not?

Sounds pretty tough, since I'm an early conqueror, but I think I'll give the Western Route a go!
Thanks Rhye!SilverKnight

Hmmmm, I dont really like the way how you are only allowed to expand on half of the world. I think that might make it kinda boring for me at least.

Oh, sorry about that seeming contradicion. I hadn't read all of the rules when I made my first post.
I played a thing like this before where I only had two European cities and the rest were colonies and all of that. I really enjoyed that; I had colonies all around the world, from South America to India. The problem which might come up from the way the contest works is that you are forced to only expand in one area. I don't know, I really liked having colonies everywhere rather than just one area. Don't worry about it, I'm sure it will be a sucess
