What about the throne room?
My favorite is the one in civilization 1 (castle)..
What do you think will be in Civ4? |

I always liked building up my palace. It gave me brief moment of happiness and a feeling of power

if there is one of these side options, i hope it's more customizable - while it was great seeing ur throne room transform from a cave into a palace, there were certain "advanced" that i didn't like in terms of taste. same w/ the palace. maybe there'd be better options to pick and choose how to upgrade.

i liked the castle more than the throne room, especially since you could actually see (a bit anyway) the differene in the castles when you zoom into the city.
maybe since they plan to make the wonders visible from outside view, maybe they can do that with the castles too, instead of having a star to denote a capital city. |

I personaly dont like the throne room. I rather much construct my own palace like in Civ I and III.

I liked the palace, though the throne room was cool and constantly changing it sometimes got a bit crazy.

I want to have the palace back, but have an option to spend some money and make it out of GOLD. Could you imagine that. Get a relatively cheaper and stronger gold-alloy-and watch your people flock to your almighty PALACE OF GOLD!!!!!!!!!!

I like in the "throne room" type thing from Alpha Centauri.
For non-SMAC players: it was basically a record of all of your great accomplishments, and whether or not you (or someone else) was the first to do that particular thing. Each accomplishment got a little symbol placed on a big stone building and you could go back and revel in your accomplishment. Such as "Brother Lal builds the Peacekeeper's first naval unit in 2135 (Colonel Santiago already built Planet's first naval unit in 2120). |

It would be nice if upgrading the palace actually did something, like increase the capital's culture or happiness. Also, the bigger the palace the more tourism it would generate.

It would be really strange if there was no palace in civ4,
now they have the possibility of putting it on the map and making it visible all the time, and the upgrades as well, and addíng some culture or turism wouldn't hurt, like a previous post said. |

Throne room was nice cause it had so many things you could change. With palace you quickly get all things upgraded, so there's only limited fun you can have.

?This is the Civ4 discussion, that means, neither the throne room or the palace needs to have the same amount of upgrades as in previous versions of civs, if it appears in civ4. |

I would love it if there was a 3D Palace View when you construct, with the option to place not just the walls and wings of the palace, but maybe a moat (or spike pit), water gardens (maybe), statues, etc.
It would also be cool if the Palace evolved over time with your technology.. when you begin, the walls are wattle and daub, they become stonework with masonry, and more advanced as time goes on... That would be AWESOME!! Oh, the Throne room was cool, but unless they can make it so everytime I conquer an enemy I get a wonder movie of them being brought before me in my Throne Room, leave it out! Just give me the 3d Palace. |

Maybe have the Palace view with different styles, and you get Statues or Monuments or something to denote things you've done first, a la SMAC.
Now THAT would be KEWL!!

Whatever it is, it must be included.
Throne Rome, Main Palace or the bigger palace with the gardens, the baths, etc.. ![]() I know this has nothing to do with the quality of civIV, but nevertheless, it's a fun element and eye candy... m |
