Slaves from Javelin Throwers...

If a Mayan UU kills one of your units and catches a slave, when you capture the slave do you pay support for it? I'd try to figure it but I can't count that high without getting bored :P

Good question, but I have never had it happen. When you capture the slave, it will either stay a slave and be free or revert to a native worker and cost.

It turns into a "normal" worker unit (not a slave) but I was wondering if I pay support cost for it...or does it just treat it like it was originally mine and I captured it back? Curious, I'm sure someone has tested this or knows the answer somewhere.

If the description of the unit says "worker" then you pay support for it. If it says for example "worker(spanish)" or any other nationality then you don't pay support.

I believe that a worker enslaved by a Javelin Thrower will become to country of the unit the Javelin Thrower killed, including Barbarians.

(Never join a barbarian worker to your cities by the way)

It DOES turn into a slave, and it doesn't get the industrious bonus either. I use them to build roads or turn them into outposts or radar towers.

No, but it's very hard to capture an artillery from the AI. First you have to rewrite the game.

@ VladTepes : It doesn't get the 'slave' icon and it isn't listed as being from a nation and it completes work in the same amount of time as my non-slave workers, so I'd say it definitely gets the inudstrious bonus.

Are we playing the same game?

The sprite has shackles. It takes twice as long to do a task than my regular workers.

Oh, it says "A Barbarian Chiefdom."

Maybe it's because I capture barbarians?

???
I capture them from the AI all the time...am I missing something here?

BTW, by "artillery" I meant all units that function as artillery in the tactical sense (so catapults, trebs, and cannons are all artillery).

Can you sell your people off as slaves for money, peace, etc. whenever you want? Or must you only capture theirs and sell it back?

You can do whatever you want with your workers. For them to be tradeable, they must be in you capital first.
