strange mood occurence

so i trade a lot of my techs for monarchy with sumeria, and then on the same turn, because i needed gold, i traded monarchy with spain for 19 gold. upon the exchange, spain went from "polite" to "annoyed". why?????????

The goverment you both are in affects the AI attitude with you. Spains favored gov't is monarchy and shunned gov't is despotism. If you were both despotism, then it cancelled out but when they switched to anarchy, you were in thier shunned gov't and they weren't, therefore you lost some attitude points with them.

so they switched to anarchy as soon as i traded monarchy with them? i thought it only occured on their turn, as soon as i ended mine

Switching to anarchy immediately is one of the very few things (maybe only thing) that can happen on your turn.

The AI can also rush buildings/units on your turn. You can't.
