Exactly, so in order not ot disrupt our science/tax farms, it is best to build them outside of the areas we cannot use, and those are the few mountain tiles. By using a foreign worker (or any worker for that matter), they are simply consumed and the airfield replaces the worker. As far as workers overseas go, we can deliver the troops into a captured city, or in other cases simply raze cities to create more free workers/airfield conversions.

@ Juballs- There is no post from you that indicates a got it, so I think we should let Spike finish what he can. Then you can jump in line.

And BTW, minor change in plans. I had no expectations that our local Walmart would have Civ 4, but sure enough they did. So I actually have it. No bugs to report, so time to master another game.

welll here we go....

0. all looks good... and then.
Rome declares war, China/Vikings sign T.E against us.
1. Micromanage... look for deals until we get choppers
2. ....... Rome enters modern age. should we possibly go for diplomatic vic?
steal mass production from the romans who are the only civ ahead of us in techs.
3. ...........
4. Rome nears olympia.
5. rome lands 4 men... we kill them all
6. .............
7. Trade Atomic theory to vikings for facism and ironclads and peace... they will be gone in a few turns anyways.
8. ..............
9. main cities all building bombers.... will be ready in 1-2 turns.
10 all built bombers move to springfield which has easiest access to roman territory.

@team - anyone who can play tonight? If so pick it up.

I'll pick up tomorrow in any case and be done by tomorrow evening.

@jb, unless I'm mistaken here I should be picking up the 1800AD save and the only one on the server is the 1750AD save from azzaman's set. Am I right or did someone miss a turn set?

Edit - now I am really confused. I tlooks like you and azzman played the same 10 and that someone didn't post his set the score table.

So I will play from the set on the scores table.

The 1750 AD save on the server was uploaded by Juballs. I strongly recommend you at least include start and end dates in your turnlogs to reduce the chances of screw ups

1750-1770AD

http://gotm.civfanatics.net/saves/sg..._AD1770_01.SAV

First order of business is to pull some settlers out of the farmlands to the far north. They will be added to the core towns to boost output and income. Burn a lot of invested shields but the added population in the core towns will be more than worth it.

Then look around and upgrade a bunch of muskets to infantry, and swap the build of a stcok exchange at Morristown to a harbor, again for the gold and growth and we already have the five exchanges needed for the Wall Street building.

Then I give up flight to Liz for Incense, we can use the sweet smelling sticks and she has no oil....

Then shut off the research and jack the cash flow up to 445gpt before the luxury adjustment and some garrison redistribution for MP duty. At current rates that is 5 turn research as we will accumulate enough cash for a careful steal in about five turns. We are at war with the tech leader anyway and don't want to buy the stuff we want from him anyway.

Inneresting, I dial up Julius just for a little chinwag and he will sell MT as part of a peace deal for 173gpt, or I can wait four turns and do a careful steal for 2013, a 33% discount, I think I'll wait.

At the begininng of 1752 I had 17 settlers in the wings and 500gpt. By adding them into the core and building a new town in the Corrupt Lands Income went up to 569gpt and the I have two core towns building 2 turn bombers and a couple of more town training three turn infantry

The Romans are sailing in from the old Viking island in the south on our western coast and from their northern lands on our eastern coast.

Our bombers need rebasing to be really effective, and also to protect them from naval bombardment (lethal to bombers in a city) but first they have to play whack a Roman ship with a little artillery support. Redlining the covering destroyers but can't touch the transports... but I hope that the admirals get discouraged and lead their flotillas home.....

I used up a bunch of slaves putting airfields in the four corners and at Newark, and that cost me some shields at Newark because pollution hit a shield producing mountain and I was seriously short clean up crews, so the towns in the Corrupt Province that had just built settlers are now building workers....

Well the plinking at Julie's transports did not discourage him much, but his landing is one pathetic tank at Olympia, more cannon fodder.

The boys with the Norden sights sank one destroyer but left another and a transport.

In 1756 sink the Roman flotilla of three destroyers and a transport with combined artillery fire and bomber flights then use the left over artillery to wreck the roads on the old Chinese island.

Then I sell the Chinese ironclads for some pocket change. Of course Mao has no coal

I need to do something about the Viking island in the south as Julie is using it as a bomber base for pillaging the core.

In 1758 there is enough in the kitty for a careful attempt at stealing tanks from Rome.

The Witch of Winchester is buying oil from Caesar.....

In 1760 reset the scientists and the research budget to pull AdvFlight in 10 but keep the kitty growing for another thievery attempt in seven turns.

The year 1762 is quiet at home but the Roman air and naval forces are coming at us from all directions and a tank lands in the north. The bomber fleet was rebased south to deal with a Roman fleet in the western waters.

The rest of the story.....

It gets uglier. The Romans are flying from Copenhagen, Stockholm and Tientsin. Built some flak to use as MP and to protect the cities from the bombers as well as provide coverage on the airfields in use by the bombers.

The Roman bombers and destroyers kept delaying our research by cutting roads and blcoking coastal tiles. That is why I went after Oslo so hard, to knock down the Roman boats and get some clear fishing waters in the west.

SHifted the bomber fleet to the mid north Ocean City to try and hit Tientsin and clear out the Roman air force that is based there. There are also bombers in the airfield in the core that can reach at least as far as Copenhagen.

We are five turns out from being able to build an offensive with paras and helicopters. We also have a couple of tanks ready to roll on any Roman landing force. The Romans have learned Amphib tactics so I am htinking we will see Roman Marines sometime soon.

The Romans will pay us 20 pieces of silver to stop bombing their captured Viking and Chinese colonies. It might be worth it just to get a little breather.

And the roster:
SpikeIt - you're it
M60 - on deck
azzaman - played but the save never got submitted
residuetiger - skipped
juballs2001 - played the hand he was dealt
Bede - got confused but now we're straight

We can drop the lux tax from 20 to 10 and save a few coin by re-assigning a coastal worker in Newark and Resiopolis to specialists.

Julius has rocketry and computers, eh? Looks like we'll have to look into gifting a certain Greek into the MA if he lives long enough.

Yeah, the Roman boats really screwed things up. I think I may have dealt with that one, for the moment bit only on the west coast.

I'm real bummed I'm going to have to do this, but I have to ask to be skipped. In fact, its unlikely I'll be able to play for the next 3 weeks. I'm really swamped at work, and I'm leaving for vacation is a week and a half. I thought I'd be able to play within the last day or so, but its just not happening. Sorry. Looks like I may miss the end game too, which is a disappointment. At least I'll be able to lurk the forum for a bit.

Good luck team!
