I bought Civ3 almost 2 months ago. During that time I have been able to play for about 3 days.
At first the game would not load and locked up at the intro movie - deleted that and finally got to the start menu. Then everytime I tried to start a new game, I would get a divide error. Kept removing and uninstalling programs until finally removing all Realplayer programs allowed me to start a game. I managed to play a couple of games, and then started getting the crashes at 1995. Finally got past that by going back a year at a time until one finally worked. Things went sort of OK for about a week - then I made the mistake of installing the 1.16f patch. Well here we are again - now I get crashes and windows errors as soon as I try to open a saved game or start a new one. I tried the CD hack, and that got me the same thing, except now I got a divide error. Reinstalled for about the 20th time, double checked to see that every single program that was running on startup was up to date, and reinstalled some win98 updates just to make sure. End result: THE FREEKING GAME IS STILL BROKE!! I hate to say it, but even AO and EQ Luclin, with their infamous bevy of bugs was not NEAR this much of a problem. I guess my next question is, can I get a refund from the publisher, since it appears that this game is never going to run - and Walmart will not take it back now? |

EULA
The EULA included instructions on how to get a refund if the program would not work as advertised.

maybe you can get a refund from infogrames, but just a helpful bit of advise. Dont get WWII Online Blitzkrieg. Your story brought up painful memories of that game lol..just a warning...
