XP and CIV III version 1.16f
Hello everyone
I am running the game with XP and now the animation of the units movement is horribly slowwwwwwwwww! The rest of the game is fine. If I remove the animate preference then no problems. Is there somewhere we have to adjust for the speed of the units? I am running it version 1.16f and have tried the compatibility way (Windows 98) and all that does is that the game doesn't start.... Thanks

That's my problem too-used to work fine in '98, upgraded to xp and didn't even get to splash screen. With patch, ran, but units all moved like molasses...3 weeks now, nothing from tech support. I will never buy another product by Firaxis or Infosux again..

Did you contact the support from Civ3.com on the Infogamers site?
Take it off compatibility mode, and try it like that. If that doesn't work go through the history and find the post about Display Drivers or Monitor Drivers for older monitors. Install that even if you don't have an old monitor (you can just install it if it doesn't work). Now try the game without compatibilty mode on and see if it works. Peter |

Yes, I went through that tech support-I received a total of one message, totally generic, telling me to do idiotically basic stuff like 'here's how to close background applications.' I've tried both with and without compatibility mode, the monitor isn't the problem, etc. You should not have to work this hard to play a game, it's not like the game is even that hardware intensive, as is the case with most games that end up being tech nightmares...
