HOw do I get un-addicted to this?

For the past few games, I have been playing with Industrious civs, and I just cant get the hang of non-industrious civ workers, they are SO slow.

Haha, I've been playing unindustrious civ's for a while, and when I play industrious, I'm like, whoa, they're fast.

I thought you were talking about civ when I read the title.

In C3C they are only faster by 50%, still good, but not as impressive as 100% in vanilla and PTW. So I often feel sad when letting 2 native workers rather than 1 native and 1 slave to build a road in 1 turn ...
OTOH, agricultural is so overpowerful that I almost hate the mere 2 foods in central tiles of non-agr civs.

That would be simply unfair, and people will complain a lot ...
I think the best way to make agr sensible is to cancel the possibility of 3 food central tile under despoticism. You can only receive the additional food after having a better government. Then agr would still be powerful, but "more equal" (Orwell "Animal Farm" ) to other traits.

I know the feeling. While France, I went into a Fasciest government. Workers roaded, railroaded, mined, iriggated, in one turn! The slaves slack off, but man! I got spoiled on them.

Even so, fascism is still far far worse than communism, the government which almost kills corruption. In C3C communism becomes the almighty government, and I also get addicted to it. It looks criminal to see so much corruption and waster after using communism ...

Yes communism is very addicting, and add in industrious and Replacable Parts, you got a might work force there.

Get addicted to Agricultural. One good game with the Iriquois ($$ and an awesome UU) or the Sumarians (love those half-price libraries) and you'll be hooked. Of course, you could just settle in as the Maya and get the best of both worlds.

Eh, industrious is nice and all, but I'm in love with science and commercial. The workers never seem to have that much a difference for me besides in the very early game and the late industrial, when pollution is epidemic. I'm not even sure how the "shield bonus for large cities" attribute of industrious is supposed to work. I've never noticed it before.

A metro of ind civs receive an extra (base) shield in it central tile, which can be magnified by factories and plants, etc. But it's indeed in general not a big bonus.

I imagine that it's quite possible to get hooked on any one of the civ traits. Religous if you like changing governments a lot. Commercial if you hate corruption. Expansionist if you love rushing around with scouts popping huts. Militaristic for getting those unit promotions. etc...

And in my case, scientific for cheap libraries and a free tech per age.

Why do you want Nationalism for free? Steam Power is the tech I pray for evrery time I play scientific. I very rarely even bother researching Nationalism, and when I do (towards the end of the age) its for Communism or spys.

My favourites are commercial and sea fairing, although that might be because I am English...

Uh, maybe drafting conscripts. Or MPPs (as much as they can be a pain in the a$$). Or being able to build riflemen to hold the fort until you get infantry. (There's no joy in using muskets to defend against cavs.)

Seems to me that Nationalism is a pretty useful tech. That said, I often do what you said -- pray for (or research) Steam Power to start the age and get my railroads up ASAP, then head right for Scientific Method and ToE and then the cascade to Hoover's. Nevertheless, I try to trade for Nationalism (or steal or demand it in a peace treaty) pretty early in the proceedings. Nationalism IMHO makes the Industrial Age work much more smoothly.

I usually just end up trading Steam Power, if im the only one who has it, or just trade Industrialization.
