Need help with my first unit!

I just got Bryce 5 and started to create a unit. I have modeled and textured the unit but animate it was a bit harder (i know how to animate but don't know how to make it work in Civ3). Can someone help me?

Any advice would be nice... And I know this is a crappy unit but I'm learning (it's supposed to be a spaceship if anyone doesn't see it.

Hmmm........not sure how Bryce works, but in Poser, you take the rendered animations(frame by frame Bmp files, not all toghether as an AVI), and place each of them in eight foldiers. Each foldier must be named for one of the eight compass directions as follows: S, W, E, N, NW, NE, SW, SE. Then open Steph's Story Board Builder, and click on create new single unit storyboard. Then hit browse in the top section, and go into the SW foldier and select the first bmp(the one with 0001).

All the bmp files must be named the same, for example, when you render and save it as S, then when it renders it should come out as S0001.bmp all the way to S0015.bmp(I presume your animation is 15 frames).

Once you do that, go down to the First=1 box and check it, then hit generate storyboard.

You will now have a bmp that is laid out like a civ3 flic. In order to turn that into a flic, you need Flicster.

In Flicster, hit file, then go to new. Then on the top select FXM file. Make sure you put in the correct number of frames for your animation, and the height and weight as well(for example 100X100). Save as the same name as the BMP file(for example, S). Make sure the FXM file you created is in the same place as your bmp. Then reopen Storyboard builder, find your bmp file as you did to create it, and hit generate new storyboard.

Finally, go back into Flicster, open the FXM file, and hit export. You should be able to figure out the last step on your own.

There are many tutorials on how to make a civ unit once you have done the animations. I think he may want to know how to use bryce. Check your PM's

@Sword_Of_Geddon: I did exactly as you said but it doesn't work. When i open the FLC-file nothing shows up.

@Wyrmshadow: Actually it's both.

Should I place the camera at a certain position? What size should I use (I've tried this spaceship in 140x140)? What background and sky should I use?

Did you follow all my intructions? Remember that after you create the combined BMP, you have to go into it, change it to 256 colors(and have the correct pallette for it to work in civ), and save it as a PCX file. Then plug that into SBB, making sure the pcx you just created is in the same exhact place as the storyboard FXM file.

Way to jump right in there. I started less ambitiously and built alot of static scenes.

I suggest you go through the tutorial by Hikaro. It won't teach you all you need, but it will give you a good starting point. Once you got the very basics, I suggest you re-read any PM Wyrmshadow sent you. He knows his stuff.

I asked if he uses any IM programs, but he didn't leave any way to contact him.

I have read Hikaros tutorial and follwed the instructions precisely but I haven't really learned Bryce yet so I didn't exactly know how to do it.

What I need is step-by-step help...

What is the first thing I should do? I have created the unit in a 640x640 resolution document. Should I change it to 140x140 as it says in the tutorial? And should I change the sky (I have no idea how to do that).

And btw that battleship isn't finished yet, I will change it a bit and add a little more detail to it...

Not bad...I imagine Wyrm's early units looked like that.
