How Many Golden Ages per Unigue Unit?
So Im the Greeks so my unique unit is the Hoplite which you get instead of the Spearman. He's got the same stats as a Pikeman. So anyway you get him early right after Bronze Age so I got a Golden Age early. Since then Ive been carting around spare Hoplites, and sicing them on badly wounded units hoping to trigger another golden age but so far its not working, & Im getting tired of them clanking around so Im just going to ask.
Do you only get one (1) golden age for your unique unit, or do have the possibility of triggering another golden age every time they end a unit? Manock Hey Coach! Can I jump on this poor bastard! Can I, huh, Can I! |

Unless I am mistaken, you only get one Golden Age per game, not counting Scientific Golden Ages in Conquests.

Usually if I have an early Unique Unit, I will try to not use it in war so I can trigger my Golden Age later in the game by building wonders.
EDIT: Post #100!

To Padma,
Can't you get more than one SGA, though? Never had more than two SGL's, but I thought you could get them in the same game, like once or twice. To sennomulo, True enough, but all he was asking was if you can get more than one GA per game. I think it's yes, but only if you have SGL's. To make this post patriotic (Go USA!) SGL's are only part of Conquests, so if you are playing Vanilla or PTW, don't read the "Blue" Section. P.S. I said "Go USA" because I am american. Take no offense if you are a foreigner to my eyes. |

You can only have one Golden Age per game, and it can be triggered either by winning a battle with your unique unit or by building wonders that match your civ's traits.
The SGL's "scientific golden age" is broken and is a known bug. Something that should take 10 turns will say something like, "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1" and take more than 10 turns.

I am in an arguement with Turner_727, stating that the SGA is fixed in Civ III: Complete. I posted pics, but that apparently isn't enough proof. I am looking furiously for another SGL, and even started a Chief game, but didn't get one even though I was ages ahead of my opponent. Go figure.

Hey, could you point me to the thread where you are furiously arguing with Turnip? I'd like to see that thread - I've always thought that SGAs seemed to work, but then got the ETA stuck on 1 turn...

Here you go:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showth...=127920&page=2 This is the page where I post evidence that suggests (actually screams) that the SGA works on Complete. If I am right, Civ III Complete will be Out of Stock very soon after Turner admits the SGA works...

Just out of curiosity - if I uploaded a Complete Edition save and you put it into a Conquests game - wouldn't the game on your computer act as though you had done that game yourself, and have the SGA act broken on your computer, and fixed on mine?

I wondered if that was intentional or not...

To be fair, when I do upload the save, I (again) will post screenshots at the beginning of each turn. Then, you can tell me if it worked on your computer. Then, we will know. *laughs again* I can't get over your half-hearted threat:
"Do you want a vacation that badly?" I'll get over it. Someday.

Really? Not from where I'm sitting. I have access to multiple stores with Complete Edition. They are:

Of course, those screenshots still don't show me that the SGA worked (6-5=1).

What?? Oh, well, okay, point taken. It was in the AA, and I had, what, 4 cities? It's possible that it didn't make enough difference, sep. when I built a settler and a worker, thus shrinking my citizens and available science. Note that it says, "X has shrunk". Well, I did that twice. I'll do it again sometime.
And I am not just trying to make excuses; a Settler makes a bit of a difference when you are that tiny. So, I'll do it again, when I can... |
