Overlapping Text

Hi,

When I start the gaoverlapping text

Hi,

When I start the game, after the opening video, etc, the options screen is all malaligned, with the text overlapping in big bunches. Also the radio buttons next to the options do not line up.

When I start the game it crashes out immediately after the first map choice screen.

I have installed the patch, and updated my video card drivers to the very latest, and nothing has made any difference.

I've not been able to find any other reference to overlapping text on the forum, but apologies if this ground has already been covered.

I'm running a PII 350, 160MB RAM, 3D Prophet Guillemot NVidia GeForce 2 MX.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Hey,
Have you tried contacting Firaxis?

It must really suck not to be able to play Civ3. But believe me, it'll be worth your wait.

Hi there,

I've got the same problem (and some other people have, too). I have already posted a mail to Infogrames, when I get an answer I'll post it here.

BTW, I have a lousy ATI Rage 128 card, so it's not about video drivers, I think.
It has to do with the fonts. On german civ3 forums there have been some discussions about this. A solution someone offered was to remove all 'Lucida'-fonts. It didn't work for me, though...
Another guy said he'd removed almost ALL his fonts to get the game to work, but that seems rather radical to me.

Hope this helps a bit

Felix

Try this. I haven't tested it but it might work.

Open up your Civilization3.Ini and change the lines
MainFontSize=16
InterludeFontSize=16

To something like
MainFontSize=12
InterludeFontSize=12

Unhappy

Thanks for the tip,
I've just tried it, but it didn't seem to have any effect at all...

Besides the font thing I have also Division errors and GPFs,
when entering a new game straight away at the main game screen or in the tutorial when I give the order to build my first city.
it really sucks...

Besides, I just checked the game directory. It seems that 'Lucida Sans' comes with the game. When I try to view it my program sometimes crashes. It never does that when viewing other
font files. Maybe the file is corrupt?

Anyway, thanks

Felix

I had the same problem on my computer with an ASUS GeForce 2 MX video card, running the ASUS driver. Went to the nVidia web site (www.nvidia.com) and downloaded the latest driver (v23.11) they had, and it fixed the problem.
