Pre-Order Question
Does anyone know if the special edition costs more because when I reserved CivIV at Gamestop they said I don't get the special-edition for pre-ordering CivIV but i have to pay $60 instead of $50

That is where I preordered mine from, yes. You can also get free shipping within the US, though it will take an additional 3-5 days.

According to the following link:
http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/info/#Release If you pre-order the game you'll receive a special "Pre-Order Edition" of Civ4 for the same price as the regular version. I suppose it's a reward for ppl that pre-order the game. This is unique because typically publishers create a regular version and a Collector's Edition, the latter of which to squeeze an extra $10 or so out of true fans in exchange for prettier packaging and some frills that regular players wouldn't care about. But for the game publishers to give a special edition to the people that pre-order Civ4 at no extra charge is very generous of them. |

At all retailers participating in the PreOrder special edition, it is the same price as the regular. However, I think we (as a whole, not just my store) are rapidly running out of those Preorder special editions, so we can no longer guarantee that you'll be getting the leather case thing... you'll still be guaranteed the game, but the leather, special edition one is first-come-first-serve on Preorders.
If you haven't Pre-Ordered yet, do so right away if you want the special edition!

I ordered online from EB games, because the stores doesnt always have it in store if there was a run on the game. I chose 2 day delivery for xtra money, you can also get overnight deleivery. This is in the US not sure of Canadia.

seriously, the price raise ticked me off right when I was online to order it. And yeah, on the strategy guide, I haven't ever gotten one since I got an internet connection. That was in a Penny Arcade comic at some point...
