Please please help

Please help me.

I just got Civ3 and installed it today. It loads up and starts the little intro. The intro movie goes fine, but when it gets to the main menu, the Task Bar Thingie is in the middle of the screen and must be physcally dragged to the bottom. When I try to start a new game, it says that an error has occured and shuts it down. The "details" are as follows:

When I try to start an Accelerated Game, it starts to work and shows my settler and surrounding land, but immediately freezes.


Please give any insights possible. I profusely thank you.

Now it just shows the intro screen, dissapears, and does nothing. This sucks.
