Hi, I am new to this forum. I finally found a GOOD forum where I can ask questions and read about this fabulous game which I play since a week.
I am playing a game with the Chineese on a huge map with 16 civilizations ( 13 left ). I am in 1987. I have 75 cities mostly conquered from Japaneese, Babylonian, Persian and Zulu civilizations. My army is composed of about 10 workers, 10 swordmans, 20 cavalry, 10 ironboat, almost 100 infentry, 10 musketeers ( which I am upgrading into infentry ), 30 artillery and some caravel. I am researching "Espionnage" and there is about 4 turns remaining. My army is way more powerful than the other civilizations which are lightly threatening with their spearmans, galley, swordmans and knights. My question is: am I ok in my tech tree? I mean, I am in 1987 and I do not possess any tank or plane ( I'll be able to get those in about 6 researches )... Is it normal? Though I have a very nice rail road and road system and two cities each with 80 armed units on them, I wonder if i must change my tech tree. I include my game in this post ( I hope it will work ). Feel free to look and comment it because I need to change my way of playing. ( I am from Quebec and english isn't my main language so I am sorry for my bad english if this english is as bad as i might think )Thank you and happy new year! Peace! |

Actually there is really no such thing as whether the tech progress is ok or not
![]() As I can see, you are militarily dominating in your game and are well ahead of the AI so I guess you are doing pretty ok. As for me, I usually get future tech by this time But then my style of playing is leading by tech and have the best unit. Since I never starts a war but always prepare to win one ![]() Oh, and your english looks pretty alright to me. |

First,
the game doesnt end in the year 2000 so you have more turns left than you think. I'm not going to say what year it ends but its been posted elsewhere on the forums if you want to know. Best to find out for yourself I think. Second, depends what type of victory you are aiming for as to whether the science rate matters. You may be too far behind in science in your game to get a spaceship victory or diplomatic victory but domination and conquest should still be possible. Myself, I think that keeping the science rate moving is important. If you fall behind on science at higher difficulty levels, the AI will produce units you cant defend against and you will be toast. |

What´s your government? Monarchy? If you want to have a rapid tech growth, you will need to change to Republic or even better democracy. However, remember that war weariness can be a pain in the ass under these government types.
Also, remember to trade tech, luxuries and resources with your neighbors. Good luck! |

thx guys for your replies! i did not change my type of government since the begining of the game because i dont know which one is the best for me and my civilization ( chineese )
i trade a lot with my neighbour and it gives me a lot of money i think ill chose democracy as my new type of government ill try to stop killing the romans and persian ![]() ..... alow diplomatic victory = false allow domination civtory = falase allow cultural victory = false allow space race victory = false allow conquest victory = false allow civilian specific abilities = true i started the game like that without knowing the ream meaning of this ![]() now i am in 1991 and 2 turns remaining in my espionnage research huhuhuhuhu |
