Hello!
My son tried to install civ III. There was some problem on the middle of installation and installation did not finish properly. Now windows remove programs do not manage to remove half installed program away. It try to remove it, but it donīt work. We canīt install program not at all. It is in the "loop"... Operation system is windows XP. We would be very grateful for little help advice. Something must fix inside windows, but what? Father of son

I'm having a simliar problem... i kept getting crashes when launching, so i decided to uninstall and try again.
However, when trying to reinstall civ3, the setup thinks the program is still installed and tries to remove it, although everything is already gone. Someone on this board suggested removing all elements of civ3 from the registry, but that didn't work for me either. This seems to be a pretty common problem, especially after installing the 'patch'. Any help would be appreciated! |

I have the same problem. I installed the game the day it came out and played it many times since. Today I installed a new hard drive and tried to install the game on the new drive. Instead I ended up deleting the old install but it still will not let me reinstall the game. I tried deleting the old install in the add/remove programes but it still shows up in the program listing. Now I cant play the game at all and the CD thinks its still installed on my pc.
What registry entries do you have to edit? |

re-install fix
Huzzah!
![]() i saw a fix for this somewhere else on this forum. You have to remove all the Civ3 files manually, and delete the infogrames interactive folder from the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/infogrames interactive). Then, find your Installshield folder (program files/common files/installshield), and let it sit in the recycle bin. Run the setup from the Civ3 disk, and it should work. |
