AI aggression

I'm playing on Noble right now and the game is crazy addictive.

I'm in 1700's and started from beginning and there as been NO WARS between anyone yet. And there are mongolians in the game!

Is anyone noticing the AI going to war against each other very much? I don't think I've seen it yet, only going to war with me.

If only i had your problems.. In 10 games i played on noble I was almost constantly in a war. Then around 1800 2-3 civs ganged up on me and just wiped me off. Not fun to a point of frustrating.

AIs next to each other with different founding religion tend to go to war.

I've seen the AIs fight. In my first game Napoleon was almost always at it. I'm glad I wasn't bordring him.

In my current game there are smaller and distinct continents and I haven't even exposed some areas because the bastages refuse to trade maps. I'm not sure if you get reports of civs being at war if you haven't met em yet (doubt it) so I don't know if they fought early, but in my current game I think the war I just started was the first war. Scary because although I'm winning many of the AIs don't like me much due to religious and other differences and they like each other a lot - so I'm sure I'm gonna get smacked in the near future.

Guess I can turn on 'aggressive AI' option in customer game, see what that does. Does anyone know if that just makes them overall aggressive or just aggressive against the player?

Actually, they tend to go to war when they cannot expand anymore. That is not always the reason, but they do seem to do it when that happens.

The AI does fight against itself! I got whacked by the Mongols because I wouldnt declare war on the Egyptians with them (after refusing three times they lost patience and attacked me too). I think it depends alot on your actual game if the AI goes to war or not. The Mongols border myself and Egypt and have been to war with both, Egypt borders Japan, Mongols and Aztecs and was at war with all three at one time. However, Rome and India are quite isolated and havent been to war with anyone and its 1600ad ! Gone are the days of a Civ declaring war and then 30 turns later a unit finally reaches one of you cities, having travelled half way around the world. It seems that the AI will go to war only when it feels it can really gain something by it, and doesnt just throw units at you cities like lemmings.
