OCC - Religous domination
I wanted to play a OCC (One City Challenge) this morning and I also wanted to try the Earth Map with 18 players. So I started as the Arabs and founded Mecca. I quickly rushed to get all religious techs. I rushed Stonehenge as soon as the game started to get Great Prophet points. When I got a Great Prophet, I quickly built a shrine and connected my city to everyone with a worker(I couldn't build anything other than roads yet). I tried to get Alphabet /writing first, and played buddy buddy with everyone and traded tech, while keeping Alphabet to myself as long as I could.
This got Budhism going pretty fast. I tried only building religous wonders to get points toward Great Prophet only since I want to get all shrines and reap the cash. As a bonus they can also rush dicovery of religious tech which helped me get nearly all of em. Now it's 1400 AD, and I missed 2 religions(ironically, Islams and also Daoism), but they have no chance of spreading much now. I built all possible tech/religious/trade building and then built missionaries. I want to get all cities around the world worshipping my 5 religions. Right now I have no cash problems, I am not behind the tech and I'm starting to get mighty rich. I'm buddy with nearly everyone and I'm probably going for a diplomatic victory. To convert a civ who adopted another one of my religions, I just had to send a missionary to his capital and one or two turn later, he would convert by himself... no one wants to be left out =) OCC just got a lot easier with Civ4 =) This is on Noble tho (which I find too easy, played 6-7 games on it and never was in any trouble, each of them with a different tactic) The only problem I had was that, earlier, my city was defended with only one warrior. I had really good relations with the russians, but Catherine saw my undefended holy city and she wanted to be God, so she attacked me... thanks to my big cultural border, I was able to rush a couple of warriors before she got there and barely made it... No one had alphabet yet, so I had no military techs, only religous ones. I was lucky... never leave your cities undefended even if you are friendly with everyone, especially in a OCC. Here's a shot as of 1400 AD.
