Ok, here is my (very bad) problem.
I just shelled out $99 bucks at my local Electronics Boutique for Civilisation 3. After comming home, I began installing (Full installation) while I took a shower (taking showers help me plan military tactics). Anyway, once I came back, it was all installed and ready to go. I reached for the CIV3 icon and double clicked. The little caption like thingy with CIVILISATION3 written on it and the tower of Babel in the background came up. It dissapeared and I waited...waited...waited....WTF?! Thats my problem folks. I try starting this magnificent game, and it doesn't let me The most I see is the Tower of Babel, then it dissapears and leaves me with nothing but my desktop.Does anyone know howto remedy this, or am I just better off getting Battle Realms for my $99? |

This happened to me a few days ago. I don't know how I fixed it, but try it again. Then try restarting your computer, if those don't, work go to: Start: Run: Browse: Then go to the cd: click on autorun. That might work. If for some reason those don't work, try reinstalling.

Same sorta problem.
I'm having the same problem now. I've been playing CivIII with no problems till today. Today I install Wolfenstein. It won't run. Something about a Glide problem. So, I update my GeForce 2 drivers. Now Wolfenstein runs....and I've got this CivIII problem.
The intro works. However, when I get past the whole tower thing....the screen goes blank, the monitor light flashes and flashes and flashes. Nothing happens. I can hear the Civ music, but no picture. I've tried starting the game every which way. I've rebooted. I've reinstalled. No dice. Guess I'll play Wolfenstein.

I also had this problem and it turned out to be the SafeDisk protection on the CD. A version of the exe file without SafeDisk took care of the problem.
You're supposed to be able to get this file from Infogrames but I've been waiting for over 2 months for a response from them. Hacked files work perfectly well.
