At least one of the Saved Game Editors will allow you to go and change the end date. I don't the maximum you can set it to, but I added a couple of hundred years to one game.

... written by yours truly.

P.S. What ever happened to the PowerBar trainer? It seems to have disappeared. I've been working on a similar utility for some time now. Perhaps I'll finish it soon.

HW,
The only PowerBar trainer I could find here is by CrsadrJoe, however it's made to work with patch version 1.16f.

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showth...werBar+trainer

And thanks much for the info and your SAVED GAME Editor. I've read scores of forum chat touting that the 2050 deadline could not be changed. But then, they probably also go along with the notion that the speed of light is as fast as it gets. ES

PS: what's your opinion of the v1.17f patch?

So far, I like the 1.17f patch. I downloaded it the same day with the editor d/l separately. After reading about Leaders from goody huts, it happened to me twice in one game. I read where they fixed that when they revised the 1.17f patch, so I am glad I did not re download it. It only happened in the one game with me as the Aztecs. I haven't had any major problems with it so far.

I haven't tried to edit the end year or make other changes using any of the Saved Game Editors yet.

The one from Hwinkels is pretty basic but does the job. I'm now in the year 2107 after using it to change the retirement date to 3000AD. Be careful though, or you can lose on any given turn by allowing a diplomatic or cultural victory. I only have domination and conquest checked. (can also be changed in his editor).

And as for leaders and such, I've found that if you catch barbarian camps when they still have two units in them, you can easily upgrade your modern armor from veteran to elite by simply attacking them twice (winning two battles in one turn) which does the trick. I leave a portion of the map under my control dark for just such a purpose, almost like a live-fire training area, where my modern armor goes to get elite status during peace time. Not only is this a real plus when war breaks out, but when elite units win battles leaders are sometimes created. I've created almost a dozen in the last three days in just this manner. Also, build the military academy, which allows the city that builds it to also build armies just like any other unit. So now I've got about 16 or 17 armies on the board and I'm kicking the dog doo out of the English, who were my allies throughout the entire game and blind-sided me while I was beefing up my military bases close to the French in preparation for their next onslaught. Oh well, so much for Mutual Protection Treaties. ES

PS: HW's editor also allows you to give yourself, and anyone else, as much gold as you want. This is a great temtation, but it really does take the intensity and, I think, a lot of the fun out of the game if used to excess. ES
