Patch 1.09 wont start
Title says it all. I just installed the 1.09 patch, and after the dvd makes a racket and the civ 4 loading screen starts, its then just stops at the desktop. The game worked fine (apart from multiplayer) before the patch.

The same thing happened to me. I've been playing civ 4 without a single crash...until I installed the patch. Now, the game won't even load. I'm about to reinstall. Any other ideas?

larsonwd i already tried uninstalling then reinstalling.
Problem was, before the patch it worked fine. Now....... |

Same here. I was playing since game was launched without any problem. Then today we decided to do a small network game. And we've seen and installed the patch.
We played the game without any problem and then I decided to start a new game all alone in Greek World Mod. And boom, the game freezes just at the end of the loading screen. Ok well I was thinking that the Mod wasn't working so decided to start a normal single player game and boom same freezing! I've uninstalled the game and reinstalled same thing. I then uninstalled and only installed the game without the patch and still the same. No more able to play the game. HELP!

Same here - nothing happens.
But, I cannot even uninstall (or reinstall the game) - any CIV setup wizard stops. And no, it's not the DVD or my comp itself: I can install/deinstall Dx9 flawless. Form what I can monitor, there must be a problem with the uninstall registry entry, since the set-ups stop after checking the version number value. But I have not the slightest clue what CIV WANTS to read here...
