shimmering diplomacy button
Leaders can not bypass your aides and jump in your face. There could be a diplomacy button that shimmers when a leader wishes to meet with you. You can play on without meeting anyone immediately. The more important the matter gets the more bright the flicker could become. Mousing the cursor over button could say what its about - 'Napoleon trade proposal (pleased)' or 'Khan demand (furious)'

Great idea. It's very annoying when they just come and make those arrogant demands. With that button you could atleast make them wait a little. =)

What would this add to the game though?
You'll just piss off leaders for no good reason. It wont really reduce the number of things you have to do. Basically you will still have to go over to the icon and see what it is they want. You might as well just deal with the issue coz it rarely takes more than 1 click anyway

Personally I would like to see something like this. I always feel like I am in the stall in the men’s room with Victoria pounding on the door demanding something. I would like the ability to consult with my advisors before giving an answer. For me it would be OK if I had to give them an answer before the turn ended but this would give me the sense of being on the Throne instead of sitting on the throne. :>)

I agree with Nemo2. An emperor should be allowed to look over his Empire and consult the Imperial advisors before having to answer the request of that English dog Victoria.

I think I would derive pleasure from ignoring AI leaders, especially if I knew they just wanted to demand something. I hate it when they just spring up in front of me with no warning. It would be kinda fun to have them declare war just because I ignored them.

You can't consult any other leaders either. And yes you can't use the maps.
