Great news and great job.
The Blue Terrain seems not to be included in the mod, right?

You would need the GOTM staff to provide a starting save file that uses this mod. I believe I saw AlanH or ainwood mention they might consider doing this next month.

This makes HoFing much easier

As for suggestions, try to include BlueMarble, as LeSphinx already said, and maybe some advisors.

One of the problems with advisors it that there are sooo many of them. Any preferences? Complete with links please!

Definitely, though I really need to spend more time playing Civ4 .

@LeSphinx/Pentium, since you're both here could you give the new "StartFile" page (you'll see it when you log in to the HOF) a go with a HOF mod start file?

I looked at the mod start file and did a successful download. I didn't install it because I don't use mods yet but it downloaded easily.

Unfortunately on my computer I do not see the Program Files/Firaxis/Assets folder. I do have view hidden files/folders checked. I had problems getting GOTM1 to load so when I re-installed cIV I set it to this user only. Now I cannot view or access the Assetts folder. Originally I did not see that as a problem. Now unfortunately I can't load this mod.

Since I do not currently participate in HOF it's not a big problem, but anyone else who installed (or re-installed) the game using 'this user only' will have the same troubles I am.

When GOTM starts using this mod (GOTM3 I believe) this will become an issue.

Does it mean that this mod is not allowed to use or not?

Does your user have admin rights? I installed my Civ4 to a single user as well and have had no problems related to that. Make sure your user had admin rights.

Did you install the game into a different place that the Civ4 default? The default path that Civ4 installs to is "Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Mier's Civilization 4\". If you installed somewhere else it needs to go there. Also, the HoF mod goes in the "Mods" folder not "Assets". Right-click on your desktop Civ4 icon and select "Properties". The "start in" box should contain the path you installed Civ4 to.

This mod is not allowed to use. The *only* mod you are allowed to use is this HOF mod.

Just checked, and my user account is set as Computer Administrator. After all, it is the only user account!

I always use the default settings, but it did not get installed to the path you stated. I used the right-click on the CivIV icon and checked the properties and found it. Odd, as it has it placed in “C:\Documents and Settings\Dustin\Application Data\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4”. Rather odd place for it to be. I’m curious as to why it was installed there?

Thanks Dennis! Your help allowed me to find the main CivIV directory. Later today I'll try out this mod and see how it works. Again, thanks!

That sounds quite strange. That path is where it places the cache and user profile data. Is the Civilization.exe in that folder?

Two questions:

#1. Is the HOF mod optional (i.e. I can just play the game "as is" as Firaxis has intended and I don't have to use any mod if I don't want to, right?)

#2. If you are really into mod, would you also mod it so that can remember your lead name, civs selection and your most recent map/game setting/selection.

Yes, it's optional. If you *do* install it the individual parts of the mod are optional too (via the .ini file), so you could disable everything so that the only change is to default "No cheating" to checked.

Any idea how that would be done?

Since you were able to check the "No cheating" box. May be you can use the same trick to check the other boxes and set the default leader name to your name as well. How about setting the leader name to my name from the *.INI file? I understand that I may have to edit the *.INI file to set this up (but it's a one time deal).

We set the "No cheating" option in the XML. That means it can't be changed via the ini file. If we can find a way to set the options via python then we could use the ini file to choose what value those options should be.
