Deity level... argh
Hello:
After winning a Monarch game I thought maybe I would give Deity a shot to see how hard things can get. I picked the smallest map with 3 random AI opponents. Indeed it is crazy. Unless they start fighting each other immediately, I had no chance to build the pyramid. No pyramid = no representation = low happiness = low pop = snail growth. I wonder whether anybody has some good tips about Deity level?

But I think I've got the hang of Emperor, it just involved me being even more of a viscous, backstabbing bastard than I was before As for trying to play Deity I think all you can probably hope to do is either win by domination/conquest early, or maybe diplomatically. But I really don't know I haven't even tried playing on Deity yet on Civ4 |

The AI has 2 huge advantages at deity:
1) They start with an extra settler 2) They produce (science and buildings/units) very quickly One approach is to simply overwhelm the enemy with a superior unit. Their are a lot of Roman Praetorian wins in the Hall of Fame at deity. A second approach is to minimize the advantage the AI gets from the extra settler. The AI isn't very good with islands and archipelego maps to begin with, and these buy the player time to settle some land before the AI takes most of it. |

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=152148 Btw, on a small map, you don't even need the anarchy tactic at all. You can also do it exactly in according to the GOTM rules (i.e. to run your government for 4 turns between each revolution) or you can just pillage and raze everything on your paths.
