Gifting Missionaries?
Say I'm on a continent with two other countries. I've founded a religion and have spread it to Country A. Country B will not sign an open borders agreement with me, but they did with Country A. Could I gift missionary units to Country A and have them spread my religion for me?

Now there's an idea! Could you get the AI over 4 missionaries at a time?

I've found that the AIs use of missionaries, at least at the noble level, is very inconsistent. You would probably want to make sure that both all your cities and all the "recieving" civs cities have your religion, otherwise you may see the gifted missionaries coming back across your border.

I've been gifting my missionaries from day one. I'm just not too sure on the exact numbers on how it improves relations with whom you are gifting to.

I attempted to gift them a few time but different civs just destroy them for some reason so I guess it depends on the civ your gifting them to. Is the "Civ A" a religious civ? Then it might work but then again the more military type civs might need one if they need to generate happiness.
Good Luck! |

generally, if they have a state religion, they'll only spread that one, at least in my experiences. Otherwise they'll let them sit in cities.
