Does being a Mod help you be a better player?

Does being a Mod of an NES help you be a better player? I think it does.

Yes, and that is why I will never join a nes modded by contempt if he ever decides to as China. I had enough grief dealing with him without him knowing how I fought steppe nomads.

Really, I still have copies of orders from various nesers from my capulet's continuation nes and I bring it up time from time to freshen my mind. In particular, I'll love to know das's, jason's and north king's opinion on the matter.

Now that the poll has come out, with varying options of qualification, I'll qualify my answer: not a LOT. It does help to see all the varied tactics out there, but I think most of it just has to come through native intuition.

I believe it most certainly does. You learn new ways of dealing with travesties. Unfortunately for me, das, NK, and many more experienced players all ignored my first stab at Moding. Would be nice to see how they deal with different problems.

Being a mod gives you more ideas, sure, but I have to ask by what do you mean "better" player?

Better as in better general? Better as in better ideas for stories, national backgrounds, or ways to take advantage of rules?

But overall, I would say that modding does help to broaden your horizons. It can also be highly addicting, which is why I have a hard time understanding how people who can just do one nes and when it closes, never open up another one again. Quite astounding

Definitely helps. I get a lot of ideas, and learn about the strategies of other players.

Agree with the above, mostly.

It does help plenty, when i modded my NES i was supprised how short some of the players orders could be and yet be right in detail.

I notice how you did not provide an option to those who have never modded...

One who has never modded a NES is not a NES'er at all.

Most NESers have tried to mod an NES and failed.

(Some, like myself, have tried and failed four times.)

It most certainly does!

Why?

Because you start to know the way people play. You start understanding their way of thinking. Are they diplomats, militants (nowdays most are) or what? And that is useful information when you are later playing against them.
