I'd definitely join in another game with you guys. This one has been great fun. A maze map would be interesting....monarch level?.... Good turns. The world can now finally feel the wrath of the German panzer...

I had a game where we tried the maze map but it was less well suited for AW than I would have thought. It may have been the fact that we chose 3 for the maze distance which is allows the AI to get across and is thin enough that your cities are poo. If we did try maze, then 4 or 5 might be best, though that may not be mazelike enough.
I would also be interested in another game. Ring or inland sea would be my choices for a map. |

I think the next game should be on a Wheel map:
![]() Still a pangaea-ish landmass, but multiple choke points need to be defended. Advantage is more choices on whom to attack and shorter routes than the Hub, disadvantage is not having a single point of defense. Should also result in a much earlier offensive vs. at least one AI. I would prefer not to game this too much by building Fortresses on all but one front , but maybe it would be necessary. Might even be a bit easier at times since we should only be seeing 2 AI at each front, so no turns where stacks from 5-6 nations show up in close proximity.

Very straightforward mop up this turn. I advanced on all fronts as fast as I could.
Rome is destroyed. India should have 1 city guarded by a single Cavalry after next turn and 3 turn or so until it is destroyed. Mongols will be the final civ to crack. We have plenty of units on the way. It took the longest for our core cities to get to Mongols. I am pretty sure they will be dead in 10 turns or less. I am only going to list Razed cities. Turn 531 (1921 AD) Razed Ravenna Turn 532 (1922 AD) Razed Delhi Razed Cumae Turn 533 (1923 AD) Razed Arpinum Razed Tabriz Tech learned: Plastics I didn't bother starting 3 Gorges almost every city is building Panzers. I did start researching flight. Turn 534 (1924 AD) Turn 535 (1925 AD) Razed Sanchu Turn 536 (1926 AD) Razed Ardea Razed Tiflis Li Po (Great Artist) born in Munich Used for Radio research as there was no other benefit I could see. We should have 3.4k rearch if we want to go for it next. Turn 537 (1927 AD) Razed Chittagong Razed Calcutta Turn 538 (1928 AD) Razed Neapolis Razed Satricum Razed Turfan Razed Bombay Turn 539 (1929 AD) Turn 540 (1930 AD) Razed Karakorum Razed Arretium Rome destroyed! Notes: Here is pictures of the two remaining civs. ![]()

wheel looks fine with me, which difficulty, size and Civ we choose?
If we want an insane game, I suggest standard map, monarch and maybe Catherine (nice UU and easy border expansions) so, after T_McC finishes off our current game, we can start GOMAW 28 we would also need strong player #5.

I should be able to finish this off today.
While Catherine would be good, I think we should at least consider alternatives. Free border expansions, Financial, and a comically overpowered UU that is much more advantageous to the human (since we can intelligently plan a tech path) than the AI isn't exactly setting the bar high. Not sure who I would nominate instead.

@TheRat I can bench press 300 lbs and squat 405 for 5 reps. Is that strong enough?
My thoughts on the wheel map. I have tried AWP on standard wheel, and it just becomes too much. It might be that I play straight through and miss the little things though. My thoughts on Hub maps. I have played and won AWP on random with hub, and generated some notes. Financial is really awesome. The Great Library is a must have. Hanging Gardens is nice, but not necessary, but you can usually pick it up. My thoughts for a wheel game. I would say that on standard AWM on a 2 wide wheel, I have my doubts that we would see cossacks. I would opt for Qin. Cho Ko Nu's, financial and industirous if my memory serves. Another really strong candidate would be Izzy. Knight replacement, financial, and an early religion along with easy civics switching. my 2 cents. |

AW would really give the Cho Ko Nu a chance to shine, as its best attacking non-city stacks (no CR promotion), which is situation that's much more common in AW.

AWM Wheel sounds good. Not to sure about the Civ though. Moa would be a good choice IMO. Never used the Cho-Ko-Nu before though.
Good turns greebley. |

I was going to volunteer to play, but I see Romeo beat me to it. What would be really interesting is to play Japan as AW in the 1000AD scenario. Or Aztecs.

Well, Bez you can always run another SG, or I can easily give up my spot. I just liked Qin's traits for AW.
I like the Cho-ko nu not for the collateral damage, I see that as window dressing. I like it for the free drill promotion, the fact that it gets to take off another 8-15 hps before the real fight starts. I find that having the GP discover Techs is unbeleivably huge in AW. I was playing as the Greeks and got 6 free techs from Great People. I ended up with a religion, but never even got a shrine up, or even adopted my religion. |

the Chinese sound good to me too. And I think we could play with 6 players if everyone here is fine with that? I was thinking that Bez might want to join. And Bez together with Romeo reminds me of that infamous game we had
If we all agree, I would start the game tonight with Mao, standard size wheel, epic speed ? monarch or prince difficulty. Is that fine with the rest of the team?

I am thinking Monarch with QIN not Mao. Otherwise I would say prince.
Industrious and financial are key, not organized and philo. Bez and I can't get into too much trouble in AW, as the arguement between guns and butter is more slanted towards guns. |

Embarassing as it may be .... I agree with Romeo. Second the motion on Qin. And Romeo also picked up on my 2nd choice. I think Conquistadors are a sneaky-good UU. Knights w/+50% vs. Melee and two first strikes? But Spiritual and Expansive are not really good traits for AW. I doubt we'll have much trouble with health and we won't be flipping between gov'ts very much.

"arguement between guns and butter is more slanted towards guns."
You should've seen the Hub AW I played. Kept my econ strong enough to buy Kremlin, SoL, Eiffel, Broadway, Hollywood, and RandR so I could stay in Representation instead of Police State despite 22 WW unhappies. ![]() (I was playing Aztecs, so switched over to US intermittently for mass buys) I think I conscripted half my army from Globe Theater layabouts. ![]() I could've launched but got bored and finished up the dom win. |
