GOTM 2 results????

Now that we are well into the GOTM 3, when can we expect the results from GOTM 2?

Not that I did that great, but I was curious.

Cool!

Is it possible to set up an automatic emailer for notification of posted GOTM results?

Damn, I totally sucked at GotM2. Can't wait the results . One day (which may be soon, I think, not probably) I'll beat the AI at prince.

I presume its possible... Might be better as an "opt-in" system. Whether or not it gets any traction would be determined by whether AlanH wants another challenge, though!

I guess it would be possible. Rather than set up a whole mail list system, I'd prefer to work on the basis that you opt in to receive a notification for each game when you submit.

But what's wrong with subscribing to the RRS feed from the GOTM news page? That will tell you whenever there's a news item. We don't publish a lot of other stuff there, but we *should* post there whenever there's a new game or a results release.

Yeah sorry guys, I'm always full of ideas but am usually limited in actually helping to make them happen. I know your quite busy already.

I agree that opt-in would be the way to go. But the RRS feed would be even better. I didn't think of that and will hook it up ASAP. Thanks for the suggestion!

Draft results are completed - just got to sort out one or two issues. I have a Civ3 GOTM to release tonight, and once that's done, these results (and teh COTM 21 ones) are the top priorities.

I was starting to guess that. You usually need 1 week to compile the results of a GOTM. Now, with 3 GOTMs per month (one civ3, one c3c, one civ4), that means 3 weeks per months to compile results giving you about one week to prepare those 3 GOTMs. You guys must be overloaded with work!!

Anyway, keep the good work and take your time.

... maybe you should start recruiting new staff members to split the job!

Yes. Please begin recruitment.
I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I am very eager to see where I placed this time around.

If you are looking for help, I'm available. 3 Degrees must be good for something...

In my experience, the more helpers, the longer it takes. Recruit too many helpers, and you'll be waiting 3 months for results!

Its not a resourcing issue - they will be published within 24 hours.

Please bear with me - I promise that I will be better organised next month - I've just had a rather busy time of late.

[First time poster...]

I couldn't agree more. This site, these forums, and most importantaly the Civ IV GoTM's have made CivIV one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've been a part of in a long, long time.

Thank you,

Steve

Add me to the list of people saying "Take all the time you need, and thanks much for running this game every month."

Also, I don't play Civ3 any more, so feel free to stop running the Civ3 GOTM and COTM.
