National Wonders in Point Scoring
I asked this question in the general discussion forum and got no answer so I'll ask it here.
In calculating the victory points, wonders owned are one of the factors. OK...the question is, are national wonders counted in calculating this factor, or is it limited to world wonders? The answer and the resulting strategy can be important in a close game. I've had a couple of very close games lately. In one of them I was a little behind with only about 60 turns to go. My AI opponent was too strong for normal war. My options seemed to be (1) to load up with attacker stacks and hit two of her largest cities near the border with only a few turns to go so she would not have time to retaliate, hoping that burning two of her cities would temporarily reduce her score below mine at 2050, or (2) rush some wonders and try to boost my score above hers. But whether the second option would work would depend a lot on whether I could build national wonders, which would be entirely within my control, or only world wonders, which would be more of a crap shoot if one of the AI's was already building, plus maybe needing some techs to qualify. Thanks for your comments. |

While you're waiting for someone to come along who really knows the answer, I can suggest hovering the mouse pointer over your score in the score list to get a breakdown of how it is computed.

National wonders are worth 5 base points each, same as a world wonder. That is multiplied by a scoring factor (usually ~4) to get your real wonder score.
Compare that to population which is worth 1 base point each, but usually has a scoring multiplier of ~6. I would go for the border cities instead of the wonders.
