For some reason iTunes doesn't work on my computer. At all. I start it up by double clicking the icon, or selecting iTunes in the start menu, or right-clicking a file and asking to play it with iTunes... nothing works. When I do any of these things, nothing happens.
Keep in mind that I have two computers, and iTunes works just fine on the other one. (I installed iTunes on the other computer a good long while ago.) The reason I care is that the other computer---the one iTunes works on---is an old computer that I'm trying to get rid of after moving all the files onto the new computer. I tried re-installing iTunes, to no avail. Any ideas?

A related question: Are there programs, besides iTunes, that play .m4p files? And/or is there a way to convert .m4p files into files that other media players can actually play? (I tried renaming their extensions, which works for converting picture files into different types of picture files, but it didn't work.)

just renaming wont work for music since its encoded in that format, not just compressed in it. Here is a program similar to itunes. except for the fact that its in an alpha/beta stage, it works really well. Here

You should be able to change all of your songs in iTunes to .mp3. Select all your songs, right-click, and hit Convert to MP3.
