few question (in a LAN)

Hey me and my friends are in the middle of a LAN and we have come to the part of the were we have never got before. We cant find answers to our questions in the manual so any help would be appreciated.

-- We have city flipping from culture and it says the cities have 10% chance of flipping. How can I remove this threat quickly. What rapid means can I use to quickly increase my culture. Also When the revolt takes place what do I have to do to quall the threat. does moving more military units into the city lower the threat?

-- NOT distance city maintenances but how do I decrease the number of city maintenances I am paying as Napoleon and its got to the point now were I must keep 4 cities on wealth to keep my head above water. I have conquered nearly al my island and have 30 cities but I am having to do them all from scratch since the computer don’t upgrade

-- General Question late game is it best to take cities or just burn them to the ground , I keep loosing my cities to other civs because there culture is now very large.

-- What is inflation in the in game mechanics?

-- Do you have to have open boarded with someone for your cities to be able to trade with other civs.

--Finally me and my friends want to play a balanced game were its not a walk in the park (meaning when we have tanks they have tanks not horse archers and we are not 4 techs ahead) however we are not put at heavy disadvantage what is a good difficulty level for us?

-Also a side point to the above when you host how do u change the difficulty level of the computer it says they are on noble and we can change our difficultly level but we cant change theirs I assume it does not matter?

thanks for all your help , sorry if these questions have already been asked or for poor spelling or grammar but like i said we in the middle of a LAN and the middle of a game thanks!

The most rapid way to increase culture in a newly captured city is to have sistine chapel and eiffel tower, create specialists, and run free speech. If you have caste system, make the specialists artists. In the mean time, quickly build a theatre (requires drama), library, university. And pre-scientific method, monastaries. When a revolt takes place, there is nothing you can do as it has already taken place. Just wait for the revolt timer to count down to 0 before the city can work again. Yes, more military units in the city does lower the threat. If you have a sizeable force garrisoned there, the threat of flipping is reduced significantly.

There is no general answer, but from the sounds of things you have more than enough cities already. I would pick strategic cities to keep, including ones that have access to new resources, or occupy a strong tactical position. Raze the rest.

A gradual increase in maintainance that is independent of game play factors and designed to offset the income boost from advanced economies.

You need open borders for trade routes with that civ, although not to trade technology. I believe you can also trade resources, gold and gold per turn without having open borders.

Start at noble. If its too easy, increase difficulty level next game (or stop your game and restart at a high difficulty). If too difficult, decrease level.
