Lightbulb Recent DirectX releases

The most recent Microsoft DirectX releases are here:
Microsoft Download Center
DirectX 9.0c has had files changed since it's introduction. Some of these seem to be very important to Civilization IV. Using the most recent version of DirectX End-User Runtime is often advised.

They've updated 9.0c April 6th. An SDK containing the End-User Runtime and a web setup are available.

This may be a dumb question, but should I update my direct X from Microsoft now?
I was thinking the version with the game was somehow tailored for Civ 4.

I'm guessing the recent versions from MS include everything that was packaged with the Civ 4 game....

If you're not experiencing any issues then I'd make no changes. I don't think the version included with the Civilization IV software was "tailored" for it specifically; it was just a more recent build of some files than what many people had, though the version number 9.0c was the same.
If you are experiencing problems with the game then work through the "Fix-It List". If you don't have success there, post a thread in this forum with a Dxdiag.txt and folks will try to help.

August one is nothing. It is only something like online installation. It does nothing with my DirectX 9.0c installed in July (when I run the program, it says I have the latest one).

Regards,
Arto.
